In a season where we reflect in Thanksgiving, how do we also hold the reality that grief, pain, and difficulty abound? We can look to David's example of complaint to the Lord. Rather than complain in discontent he grieves the difficulties before him, bringing them to God, recognizing that the Lord knows all and cares for him. We must recognize our weakness in this world and depend on the Lord amidst difficulty and loss. When we see our utter need, we can then truly praise the Lord for His abundance of grace and care to us. Our lament ultimately will need us to thanksgiving.
