Jesus was sent as a missionary to take our brokenness away and provide hope. Some know that hope and those who do are being sent by Jesus into cities, schools, businesses and homes to love, serve and seek the good of all people and see as many people come to know that same hope. Jesus is that hope. You and I who have accepted Jesus’ free gift of eternal life by faith are called to go and spread that message of hope to others. Let us be encouraged today to go and let that hope be known.

In what is known as the Transfiguration, we have the climatic event that declares the identity of Jesus. Jesus is the glorious Son of God and has not just stayed up on the mountain, but has come down to the foot of the mountain to help people and He will do this ultimately through His death and resurrection. His disciples did not fully get what was going on and who He was as there was a messianic and suffering mystery still present among them. What about us? Do we know Jesus for who He truly is today? I pray we do and are encouraged in this breathtaking look at scripture.

Who do we believe Jesus to be? What we believe about Jesus impacts everything, the present life we live now here on earth and our eternity. So, who do we believe Jesus to be and how should this impact our life?

Jesus called the twelve disciples to His team, gave them what they needed and handed off to them the mission of the kingdom of God. What Jesus handed to the disciples is what He has handed to all who believe in Him. Today, let us know that we have the ball in our hand, we are to be dependent on Jesus as we hit the ground running in ministry to others and even when we face opposition we are to trust Him to provide all we need and more. Take the hand off and let’s run!

Life is hard. We face the realities of trouble and evil daily. We can't ignore such reality, so how do we handle the unexpected crisis or the battle with evil in our day? Through today's text we see Jesus is the answer.

In today’s scripture text, Jesus focuses in on listening to the word of God through two parables and the significance of what we do with what we hear. We must take what we have heard and obey it and then proclaim it. This is key to the kingdom of God and those who do it are truly God’s family.
