Good Morning! Happy Mother’s Day! Welcome to Mercy Fellowship where we are Saved by Jesus Work, Changed by Jesus’ Grace, and Living on Jesus’s Mission. This week we are going to resume our series ROOTED: Living Scattered, Not Shattered. Many of us are realizing our roots are too shallow and weak to sustain us in the storms of life. We need good news greater than our current events. We need to be rooted in what is real, true, and eternal. When we are rooted in the transcendent, we are not reactive to the temporary.

So today we are talking about Loving like Jesus. I want to start with the heart of the passage. In 1 Peter 4:8 he says Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. If you get anything out of this message, it is a call from God to love one another earnestly. This is the key to understanding this passage. The Bible often talks about the importance of love: John 13:34–35 [34] A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. [35] By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (ESV) 1 John 4:20 [20] If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. (ESV) John 3:14 We know that awe have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. What Jesus says is that the essence of true Christian spirituality is to love
