Isaiah is given a glorious vision of God and sees God's glory and holiness; recognises his own sinfulness and receives God's amazing mercy. No wonder he responds to God's call with "Here I am! Send me!" May we do the same!

Isaiah compares God's people to a choice, cared-for vineyard that produces only bad grapes. God's judgement will be swift and severe - but with God there is always grace for the repentant.

It's April Fool's Day but is the resurrection of Jesus the greatest April Fool ever or the most important event in the history of the world? Let's look at the evidence...

The leaders have failed so leadership will falter; selfishness reigns so the haughty will be humbled. But there is hope... the branch of the Lord is coming!

Isaiah turns to look at the heart of the problem and sees the problem at the heart of Israel. Instead of faithful worship to God alone, God's people were being spiritual adulterers, worshipping God's gifts, God's creation and even the false gods of the nations around them. They looked 'full' but were foolish. But there was still hope...

God's people were supposed to reflect God's justice and righteousness to a watching world but they had failed and become violent, corrupt and selfish and the poor and the widow were paying the price. Isaiah brings God's charge, God's verdict but also God's promise.

Isaiah 1 starts with God's verdict on his people - and it's fair to say he is not pleased! They are stupid, sinful, stubborn, like 'Sodom and Gomorrah' and yet oh so religious! But God's judgement doesn't have to lead to wrath; God offers his glorious grace and tells his people to make a choice. What choice will we make?

Today we begin a series on the Book of Isaiah with a beginners guide to the writer, the times and and the themes of the book Over 66 chapters Isaiah brought God's message to the people of Judah before exile, during their exile and after exile - and these same words have much to say to us.

Jesus heals a man born blind, but the question at the heart of this passage is about spiritual sight. Can we see who Jesus is, and will we willingly accept him as Lord of all areas of our lives? Anything else, and we are walking in the darkness...

A good friend of Jesus dies and has been dead 4 days by the time Jesus arrives. To the man's grieving sister Jesus claims that he IS the Resurrection and the Life and that ALL those who trust him, even though they die, will live again. So show he is able to deliver what he claims, Jesus raises a dead man back to life and leaves us with a question: do you believe this?
