As we await the future kingdom and a remade cosmos, body and reality, we must be on guard against misplaced hope. Where we place our hope is where we find our joy.

In the last section of the Sermon on the Mount, we learn that Christ is the narrow way, and the heart that loves Christ follows only Him.

The Sermon on the Mount continues as Christ shows His disciples that pursuing wholehearted devotion to Him is better than all the riches and comforts of the world.

In this section of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches His disciples how to pray and warns them about the dangers of giving and fasting with the wrong motive.

Continuing in His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus shows that He is the new Moses who will ultimately fulfill the story of Israel. He provides a better way through the forgiveness of sin and a transformation of the heart.

In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitudes, we see a picture of the ideal person committed to following Christ.

In the Resurrection, all barriers to Jesus are obliterated, giving us free access to the invitation to know Him. Through salvation and communion with Christ, we are invited into His dwelling, dominion and dynasty.

On the cross, King Jesus was enthroned because of suffering and death, establishing the kingdom of God not through force, but through grace. Through His death, we learn what it means to live rightly in light of the kingdom and suffering.

Through parables, Christ teaches how the kingdom will come in an unexpected way—through slow growth, even among the wicked, and without militant force. He also reveals how one gets into the kingdom—by being both childlike and repentant.

In the opening of Matthew’s Gospel, we see God’s promises to Abraham and David come to fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Under His kingship, our allegiance is to Christ and His kingdom.
