What happens when we experience conflict? What do we do when we have a failed relationship? In this text, we see both and also see a God who works in the midst of even failure for our good and his purposes.

In an opportunity for division to arise within the church over adherence to the law after being saved by Jesus, Jesus unifies the church by his Spirit. We are freed to by the gospel to pursue obedience to Jesus without submitting to the slavery of legalism.

The third and final part of our series in the book of Acts is called The Unstoppable Mission of God. We’ll see the gospel absolutely explode across the Roman Empire, into Asia and even into Europe. In these chapters of Acts we’ll see persecution intensity, churches be planted, and cities be changed by the good news that Jesus has come to bring restoration and that really does change everything. All of this will lead to us seeing how we are a part of what started in the book of Acts and will continue until Jesus comes back.

As we advance the Gospel, we need encouragement. If we are to remain unified in our efforts to make much of Jesus we need to be reminded that God is at work within us. In the letter from Paul to the church at Philippi, we are reminded that Jesus loves us, so as a church family we need to pursue love and encourage one another. Jesus humbled himself, so as a church family we need to pursue unity and humble ourselves. Jesus is worth everything, so as a church family we need to pursue him and turn from worldly desires. We will preach through the entire book Book of Philippians at a later time but over the next few weeks, we will take a quick look to be encouraged to pursue Jesus together.

We move now into the 2nd part of our series in Acts: Stories of Mission. We’ll see stories of people and churches in Acts who were faithful to Jesus’ command: Go and make disciples of all nations.

As we continue looking at stories of mission in the book of Acts we come to the story of the church at Antioch. They display open-handed faithfulness as they, together, are wholeheartedly devoted to the mission of God. In this preach we look at the characteristics of a sending church.

In this story, we’ll see the first Gentile (non-Jewish) convert: Cornelius. What happens when the mission we’ve been given by Jesus, to advance the gospel, takes us to people and situations we’re really not comfortable with? Jesus has come to tear down barriers that exist between us by his grace.
