    Bibleverse: [4]
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

  • Rev. A.T. Vergunst - Amos 3 : 1 - 8 + 4:6-13
    Bibleverse: [3]
    :[1]
Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, [2]
You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.  punish: Heb. visit upon [3]
Can two walk together, except they be agreed? [4]
Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?  cry: Heb. give forth his voice [5]
Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? [6]
Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? [7]
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. [8]
The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?[4]
    :[6]
And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. [7]
And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. [8]
So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. [9]
I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.[10]
I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. and have...: Heb. with the captivity of your horses [11]
I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. [12]
Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. [13]
For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.

  • Rev. A.T. Vergunst - Acts 8 : 26 - 40
Theme: The conversion of the eunuch, Bibleverse: [26]
And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. [27]
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, [28]
Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. [29]
Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. [30]
And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? [31]
And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. [32]
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: [33]
In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. [34]
And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? [35]
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. [36]
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? [37]
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. [38]
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. [39]
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. [40]
But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

  • Rev. A.T. Vergunst - Acts 8 : 5 - 24
    Theme: The hypocrite, Bibleverse: [5]
And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. [6]
And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. [7]
And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. [8]
And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. [9]
Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. [10]
Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. [11]
And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. [12]
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. [13]
And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. [14]
And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) [15]
Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. [16]
There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.[17]
Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,[18]
And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. [19]
But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, [20]
Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. [21]
And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. [22]
But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told, [23]
Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within. [24]
Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

  • Rev. A.T. Vergunst - Acts 3 : 19 - 4v4
    Bibleverse: [19]
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; [20]
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: [21]
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. [22]
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. [23]
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. [24]
Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. [25]
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. [26]
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. [4]
    :[1]
And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, [2]
Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. [3]
And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. [4]
Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

    Bibleverse: [37]
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? [38]
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. [39]
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

    Bibleverse: [1]
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2]
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3]
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4]
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. [5]
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. [6]
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. was...: Gr. voice was made confounded: or, troubled in mind [7]
And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? [8]
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? [9]
Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, [10]
Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, [11]
Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. [12]
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? [13]
Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. [14]
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: [15]
For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. [16]
But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; [17]
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: [18]
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: [19]
And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

    Bibleverse: [1]
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: [2]
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, [3]
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [4]
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. [5]
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [6]
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. [7]
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. [8]
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. [9]
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [10]
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [11]
