I am in the early stages of writing my book, The Heart of Service, I'm excited to share a glimpse from Chapter Two titled “Service as a Means of Expanding the Heart.” Selfless service has a beautiful ability to expand the heart, reflecting the love of God found throughout the universe. This love is often witnessed in the deep affection of parents for their children and even in the brave sacrifices animals make for their young. A touching story illustrates this: a forest ranger discovered a mother quail who, in her last moments, protected her chicks from a wildfire, showcasing the profound nature of love and sacrifice that resides in all beings. When we serve others, our hearts open and become channels for divine grace. This generosity creates a divine circuit, allowing us to receive as we give. True service carries a magnetic energy that uplifts both the giver and the receiver, inspiring greater love and kindness. To serve effectively, we should connect with others on a spiritual level, fostering a sense of resonance that elevates everyone involved. The Golden Rule, found in many religious teachings, encapsulates this universal truth of compassion and care.
