Joseph's journey through slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment is one of the Bible's most powerful pictures of faithfulness under pressure. Like the Chinese bamboo tree that grows unseen for years before shooting up dramatically, God was building deep roots in Joseph long before anything visible happened. Even in prison, God's steadfast love was present, and Joseph continued to show up, use his gifts, and point others to God rather than to himself. Being forgotten by the cupbearer for two years could have broken him, but Joseph remained ready. Suffering is not God punishing His people. It is often God preparing them. True faithfulness is rooted in who God is, not in how life is going, and the fruitfulness of our lives flows from that faithfulness.

The Bible contains both shallow waters and great depths. Some passages are so clear that a child can doggie-paddle through them with confidence. Others are so profound that they require us to swim carefully, patiently, and with precision. Hebrews 7 is one of those passages.
