They create the structure and order that we associate with many of our memories.   For instance, our memories of the rituals and traditions of birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving are often appropriated by us as we raise our own families.   However, when we apply this concept to our faith it can provide for, or create, a faith that is only based and focused upon tradition, ritual, ceremony, and works.   In our spiritual life, traditions or rituals do not trump God’s Commandments.
