The 40th inaugural episode begins as an emergency Lane Johnson memorial, with Dr. TAT delivering an alarmingly sincere tribute to one of the greatest Eagles ever before the crew realizes Philadelphia will effectively awaken without its thumb and may soon be protecting Jalen Hurts with large Johnsons with instead several small Willies. From there, the offensive-line crisis somehow evolves into waterproof Jameis Winston cologne, an unsolicited masterclass in sunscreen application, a Salute Your Shorts recall, cereal-milk order psychopathology, and a serious legal debate over whether Carson Steele’s pet alligator, Crocky-J, can suit up in London this week. The Eagles are battered, seven-point underdogs to Jacksonville, and so depleted that “Blue Steel” and “Free Willie Lampkin” become legitimate sources of hope. By the end, Wawa's beta-phase sushi has already been condemned, Stat Boy turned 40 at least once in his life (recommended), and Dr. TAT transforms The Dark Knight, Michael Jackson, and a backup center into a closing sermon of football resurrection: Free Willie. In Willie We Must Trust.

A huge Stat Boy shout-out to Mercedes from Merce Designs Jewelry for making a custom friendship bracelet for his 40th birthday! Because apparently turning 40 means you're officially old enough to receive handcrafted jewelry commemorating your own podcast nonsense. The bracelet came out awesome and Stat Boy greatly appreciate Mercedes helping make "40 and Fratty" just a little more stylish!

The 39th inaugural episode begins with Dr. TAT formally apologizing to the entire Midwest for his Chicago accent and somehow gets worse from there, as the crew records live during a Phillies elimination game while periodically trying to sacrifice Red October to improve Vic Fangio’s Rams game plan. International correspondent Roy Hobbs calls in live from IHOP to review blueberry pancakes, recommend Cleveland as an exotic vacation destination, break down European cycling despite the hosts knowing absolutely nothing about it, and demand Breeders’ Cup analysis. Somewhere between actual Eagles offensive-line discussion, a theory that wide receivers should barely understand how wheels work, beard maintenance, Pokémon Go surveillance, and a constitutional crisis over whether Jay-Z was allowed to reject the nickname “Jazzy,” the Phillies briefly score a run. By the end, Stat Boy has produced legitimate Case Keenum statistics, everyone has become emotionally dependent on Gloria Gaynor, and Set Hike! reaches the only conclusion available: we will survive. Probably.

The 38th inaugural episode begins with an allegedly invisible guest, an Eagles team sitting at 2–0, and Dr. TAT opening a completely unlicensed medical school to explain Saquon Barkley’s stinger before the Mystery Guest executes a pro-wrestling run-in worthy of a steel chair. The crew dissects Jalen Hurts’ late-game heroics, the Giants’ rapidly expanding injury ward, Caleb Williams’ dramatic cart ride, the existential difference between Case and Chase Keenum, Detroit-style pizza, and why Michigan apparently becomes Set Hike!’s headquarters after the collapse of civilization. Then the Mystery Guest unveils a newest business venture—Mystery Guest’s Luxurious Cello—by introducing a suspicious yellow bottle with the reassuring sales pitch, “This is not a bottle of piss,” before everyone tastes a four-week Everclear experiment that Dr. TAT describes as lemon rind mixed with motor oil. Somehow nobody goes blind, the drink becomes the unofficial, official alcoholic beverage of Set Hike!, and the show immediately transitions into Chicago accents, investigates an alleged Penn State onion injury, and Computer Scott forcing four grown children to determine whether competitive sign-spinning is a sport, a statistic, or simply shenanigans. By the closing minutes, Stat Boy is fact-checking Zach Ertz marriage history and Eagles receiving records, the Mystery Guest has helped establish a future robot-resistant colony on Set Hike! Island, and the crew reaches perhaps its most defensible conclusion yet: October is a top-12 month of the year.

The 37th inaugural episode celebrates the Eagles’ fast 1–0 start by, you guessed it, conducting a much needed vegetable intervention with Lizzie Streit from It’s a Veg World After All, as three grown children repeatedly steer sweet potatoes, pickled onions, and sports nutrition toward barbecue, meat pies, and Australian espionage. After Lizzie escapes, Dr. TAT conducts an unsolicited graduate seminar on the Eagles’ offensive line shuffle while the crew is anointed as "Sons of Dicker." Chaos ensues with a Quarterback-Center exchanges become a courtship ritual and Tennessee’s supposedly fearsome Greek "Titan" is exposed as an energetic trash panda named T-Rac—naturally leading to animal intelligence rankings and an Oregon Trail gopher massacre. For Week 2, Slayer gets sent to Nashville with Set Hike! assignments involving Dolly Parton, Elvis, and financially irresponsible roulette; an anonymous listener launches an investigation into Jameis Winston apparently fumigating the Giants’ locker room with cologne; and the show establishes a completely unnecessary new fragrance measurement system ranging from a "quarter-Winston" to the medically inadvisable "full-Winston". Stat Boy closes by fact-checking the Minnesota State Fair, historically efficient negative yardage, and—most devastatingly—the discovery that roulette wheels do not have a 37, ruining the crew’s beautifully conceived 37th-episode gambling strategy (back to 31!). The lesson is simple: eat your vegetables, protect your quarterback-center relationship, and never, for the love of everyone within a ten-foot radius, never go full Winston.

A massive thank you to Lizzie Streit from It’s a Veg World After All for joining Set Hike! and somehow keeping three flexitarian focused on vegetables for more than 20 minutes. The 36th inaugural episode of Set Hike! celebrates the return of NFL football by spending the opening fifteen minutes debating how Australian pronunciation, whether time is a social construct, and if Michigan keeps a secret DraftKings-sponsored clock in a drawer specifically for manufacturing extra seconds. Things briefly become alarmingly professional when legendary Philadelphia sportswriter Les Bowen joins the show and casually unloads 40 years of Eagles knowledge from memory, explains why Sean Mannion should hide safely in the booth, questions whether Jeff Stoutland’s departure could break the offensive line, and somehow says “Willie Lampkin” without realizing he has just activated Dr. TAT’s Pee-wee Herman secret word. Once Les escapes, the crew immediately destroys whatever journalistic credibility he left behind by investigating Panda Dan’s white Johnson, selecting French game-day cologne, debating whether smoked wallaby belongs inside a meat pie, predicting an Eagles massacre of the Washington Clarendons, and imagining Vic Fangio being physically carried into the coaching booth like an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Finally, Stat Boy attempts to correct the fundamental physics of time replacing Cesium-133 with Hydrogen-1's isotopes which naturally segues into confirming Landon Dickerson’s 40-yard dash time before revealing the Set Hike! R&D Department has apparently been employing Rob, not Randy, this entire time—which is perfect, because after an offseason featuring horse racing, Uruguay, Baltimore slander and whatever the hell else this show became, football is finally back and nobody needs to pretend any of this made sense.

A HUGE thank you to Les Bowen for taking the time to join Set Hike! and help us kick off the upcoming NFL season. For decades, Les was one of the unmistakable voices of Philadelphia sports journalism, covering the Flyers, Eagles, and some of the most memorable eras in the city’s sports history with the knowledge, humor, and perspective that made generations of Philly fans feel like they knew their teams a little better.
Getting the chance to talk Eagles history, the 2026 team, and the evolution of sports media was genuinely special for all of us. More than anything, we’re incredibly appreciative of the body of work Les produced throughout his career at the Philadelphia Daily News and Philadelphia Inquirer, and the role it played in shaping how so many of us followed Philadelphia sports growing up.
Thank you again, Les, for your time, your stories, your sense of humor, and a career worth celebrating.

The 35th inaugural episode becomes a full-blown Slay Day as Slayer celebrates her actual August 27 birthday in studio, where a normal birthday interview immediately mutates into LeBron fan anthropology, quiet-car jurisprudence, and a hard-line debate over wearing the wrong Philadelphia jersey to the wrong Philadelphia sporting event. From there, the crew discovers Willie Lampkin may be a lost citizen of Oz, debates whether Dr. TAT is legally permitted to boo his own Bengals-loving child, turns Joe Burrow into Macaulay Culkin, and spends an irresponsible amount on craps mechanics, upside-down puzzles, and tactical sandwich concealment from increasingly militant Jersey Shore seagulls. Slayer then delivers what is immediately declared the greatest duck joke in podcast history before revealing the secret economy of Wrangler ducking, hidden Jeep symbols, and why Panda Dan has apparently been waving at people who were never obligated to wave back. Stat Boy attempts to restore sports by introducing the Phillies’ “lame duck” manager situation, only for the episode to unveil an alternate Set Hike! Red October fanfest coined "Set Strike!", react to an IHOP-based Spanish cycling correspondent, and then host a live intervention over Panda Dan’s Minute Maid intake. Finally, Slayer brings everyone cookies, Dr. TAT eats the cookie she actually wanted, the room performs a duck-infested “Happy Birthday" and the Corrections department delivers the ultimate birthday gift: Slayer missed sharing August 28 with Shania Twain and Marv from Home Alone by roughly eleven minutes. Let Slay eat cake? Sure. Just apparently not her own cookie.

The Set Hike! crew finally gets serious in its 34th inaugural episode, promising a “no-nonsense night” before immediately burning multiple minutes litigating the numerical boundaries between a couple, a few, several, and many—proving once again that nobody at this podcast can be trusted with an agenda. After diagnosing the Eagles’ preseason offense as vanilla ice cream dropped on the ground, Panda Dan debates whether Sean Mannion belongs in the forbidden booth, while Dr. TAT discovers that Vic Fangio’s defense apparently consists of a man on life support and a human piñata. Things briefly become shockingly wholesome when Lauren from Carl’s Cards & Collectibles joins to celebrate her father’s incredible Havertown legacy and their store’s role in connecting Philly fans with their hometown heroes, including Delco’s very own Kevin McGonigle. Speaking of hometown heroes, a new one is born when "Juice” begins recounting how a mere Delco mortal went from nearly being kicked out of Citizens Bank Park to being rescued, sent backstage, placed next to Flo Rida, transforming into a 62-year-old dancing Phillies folk hero, complete with an elbow kiss and open jersey. By the end, Stat Boy conjures up a new Set Hike! memorabilia sweepstakes and reveals a secret talent so powerful that Dr. TAT and Panda Dan immediately begins reconsidering the very concept of sound itself.

The 33rd inaugural episode begins with Turtle’s manual-transmission driving gloves and somehow develops into a graduate seminar on Jeep culture, where Panda Dan admits he’s essentially duckless and the crew spends several legally inadvisable minutes defining mutual ducking, tri-ducks, duck exclusivity, and the shocking possibility that the Western Hemisphere itself is a duck. The Phillies then use the completely meaningless but spiritually binding fact that the 1980, 2008 and 2026 teams all sat at 64–56 after 120 games to guarantee another World Series, before Chase Utley’s Wall of Fame ceremony becomes an ageism tribunal, a Pat Burrell grooming appreciation society, and a Kevin Costner filmography test nobody studied for. Eventually football arrives, where Darius Cooper and Willie Lampkin become the official Set Hike! preseason hype train, Lemon is declared a bust approximately seven years before anyone should be allowed to say that, and Lane Johnson’s possible last ride sends the entire offensive-line discussion plunging into an unstoppable series of Johnson jokes. The brand-new Set Hike! voicemail line then fulfills its technological destiny when children immediately use it to investigate Dr. TAT’s fart volume, before Stat Boy closes the case with Stellantis corrections, vintage Phillies fan-club archaeology, Savannah Bananas acrobatics and one final command: grab your ducks, give yourself a Jeep wave, and go Birds.

The 32nd inaugural episode begins with a formal attempt to repair diplomatic relations with the duck-joke community, but mutates into a graduate-level NFL training-camp seminar before AJ Epenesa’s nocturnal snake herping hobby kicks the door off the hinges and sends the entire show screaming into reptilian hell. Dr. TAT relives the moment he accidentally grabbed a live Delco driveway snake, Panda Dan reveals that apparently every young man must complete one government-mandated “snake tour,” and Stat Boy is forcibly rebranded as Snake Boy while Snakes on a Plane, Anaconda, and Hollywood's mandatory hip-hop casting requirements consume a wildly irresponsible percentage of a sports podcast. Eventually, the crew remembers sports exist and staggers back toward Eagles training camp (part II), investigates Atlanta’s fourth-string quarterback and Joel Embiid’s allegedly asymmetrical slimming anatomy. Before Snake Boy can open the correction ledger, Set Hike!’s R&D Department unveils its greatest invention yet and launches the show into a completely new level of unnecessary technological advancement, a twist so structurally ambitious it has Christopher Nolan asking for a whiteboard and a nap.

Set Hike! starts off with a BANG, celebrating its **inaugural** 31st episode by immediately setting what experts are calling the fastest statistical correction in sports-comedy podcast history, naturally segueing into compelling prime numbers talk, knuckle-based calendars, seasonal punching fists, Atlantic City bachelor-party archaeology, and a shockingly serious investigation into whether anyone has ever willingly bet roulette number 31. As Philadelphia transforms into LeBron City, Panda Dan delivers possibly the least enthusiastic superstar welcome in sports-comedy podcast history, Eagles training camp is here (rejoice!), and Stat Boy explores the financial mechanics of being mummified in your own life savings. But the true star is MC and The Sauce, a Chester County beer-league hockey operation built on pizza branding, A.I. (i.e., Antonio Intelligence) analytics, a whopping 16.7% power play, and the revolutionary draft strategy of selecting every guy who has previously injured you. By the end, the crew has debated Italian pasta sauces, sounds-off on LeBron's helicopter commute, famous babies, Hands on a Hard Body, a 13th month named “Secon-dary,” and produced what Dr. TAT himself concedes may be “one of the worst duck joke podcasts we've ever had.”
