  • Your Pleasure is Your Path

We need to open up more discussion about what we find pleasurable in our lives, whether it’s outside, in the bedroom, or both. Because when we untangle harmful assumptions about pleasure, we also begin to fray away at some of the things tying us in knots when it comes to discomfort around sex. Which is why Janette Casolary, a queer artist from Seattle and someone we would label as a pleasure advocate, joins us for a discussion on how we can each access pleasure more in our personal lives.

There’s a lot of times it’s important to stay on trail-- but exploring what gives us pleasure isn’t one of them. This is one path that’s totally yours.

  • Our First Time: The Premiere of Sex Outside

It’s precisely because sex can be uncomfortable to talk about that we wanted to break the ice together as a community. That’s why a couple months back, we asked you all to send in voice memos answering a couple questions to practice talking about sex more openly and show that when it comes to feeling hesitant about these topics-- that you’re not alone.

In this episode, hear from over a dozen voices in various corners of the world share perspectives and stories answering these two questions:

    1. What makes sex challenging to talk about, or has made it challenging to talk about in the past?
    2. How have the outdoors or nature helped to open up these conversations for you, or to feel more connected to your sexuality, gender identity, sensuality, or your body?

    Featured in this Episode:

Natasha Buffo, Marisa Huffman, Urvashi Parmar, Amber Johnson, Danee Voss, Gale Straub, Christina Shintani, Sierra Aceto, Janette Casolary, Alex Torquemada, Linda Keil, and two wonderful, anonymous voices.

  • Let's Talk About Sex (Yes, You Too)

We think your voice would sound *so good* on the premiere episode of Sex Outside.

For a lot of us, talking about sex isn’t easy. In fact, sometimes it’s just plain awkward. That’s why open dialogue about sex, gender, sensuality, relationships, and our bodies doesn’t happen often enough… and that’s also why we’re starting this series by breaking the ice, together as a community.

In short: we want to hear your voice.

Whether you’re nervous to talk about sex, or whether you feel completely comfortable-- we want to hear from you about what makes sex tough to talk about or has in the past, and how nature or the outdoors has opened up those conversations for you, or makes you feel more comfortable in the process.

Maybe it was a childhood full of watching Animal Channel. Maybe it was the first time you skinny dipped. Maybe it’s simply that you feel more like yourself in the outdoors, and this time outside is exactly what allows you to be more of yourself in the bedroom. Whatever your story might be, or whatever it is that makes sex tricky to talk about for you-- we are here to share these stories in community with one another, learn from each other, and begin normalizing conversations focused on sex.

Voice submission are now open, and we think you would sound *so good* on this premiere episode. To learn more, you can head to sexoutsidepodcast.com/voice.

Talking about sex doesn’t come naturally to a lot of people. But thinking about the ways it intersects with the outdoors just might be a good place to start. Host Laura Borichevsky provides a setting for interview-based conversations covering gender, sexual hygiene, relationships and dating, practical aspects of having sex in the outdoors, and much more.

Join us as we get a little dirty in the name of opening up conversations many of us want to have but so few are willing to utter out loud.

The first full episode of Sex Outside launches in February of 2021 but we’ve got lots planned in the meantime. Subscribe to Sex Outside in your favorite podcast app and follow along with us on Instagram @sexoutsidepod to receive updates as the anticipation builds. We hear it’s more fun that way.
