Here's another radio commercial for an event that Rod Roderick produced in San Francisco, in 1989. A slice of San Francisco nightlife history! • Perceptive Audio - The Bolt (SF) #21 - 1-17-77
Another mixtape from The Bolt bar in San Francisco. The Bolt was located in the same space that is currently The Powerhouse on Folsom Street, between 9th and 10th. If you were to step into The Bolt in 1976, this is the soundtrack you would have heard being played in the bar. A mix of rock, soul, and early disco. These bar tapes were made by Sanford Kellman (who later owned The I-Beam) and Mel Ford. It was a mixtape service for bars around San Francisco.

From the Rod Roderick tape archives.

  • DJ Beau Thomson - Cha Cha 3
This is the early 80's Hi-NRG sound of San Francisco. The sound that moved me, and got me really interested in Hi-NRG dance music, and the records that the SF DJs were spinning at the time.

Beau Thompson was a DJ at the following bars/clubs in San Francisco. Castro Station Bar, The Phoenix, and he also played a little at The Trocadero Transfer.

From the Mike Ritchey tape archives.
