In this episode we have Andrew Kneeland join us, our long time creative contributor and fill-in host for the show, to discuss to topic of music and the way this art form fits within a Biblical framework. Music has the powerful ability to communicate mood and tell stories, and we argue that in a wordless way intrinsically tells the story of the scripture. Join us as we discuss some of our favorite bands/songs, work through the classification of the "Christian" genre, and discuss the theological basis for approaching music.

In this episode, the guys come together to discuss the Biblical story of the Tower of Babel, and how the curse seen in that story is paralleled in many ways to the problems we see in society today. When proud and arrogant societies arise God is swift to execute judgement, and in the end He accomplishes His purposes. Join the guys as they discuss the adverse effects of the Babel curse in modern society, and how the Gospel ultimately undoes the curse of Babel.

Welcome to part 4 in our theme study. In this episode we will be talking about water, and specifically how we see water used scripturally within the context of judgement and also within the context of salvation, which we call the water of life. Both reflections of this one thematic image pervade all scripture from beginning to end, and like every good theme culminates in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Join us as we dive into the scriptures and learn about how God uses water to tell the story of the gospel.

Welcome to part 3 in our themes study. In this episode we discuss the theme of trees in the Bible. When trees appear in scripture, we're tempted to just see them as mere details in the story. Our argument, however, is that is most certainly not the case. Trees play important roles in the story of the Bible and play a significant role in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Join us as we dive into the Old and New Testaments and discuss the theology behind the imagery of trees.

This is the second part, but third episode, in our new themes study. In this episode we discuss the theme of wilderness in scripture. Throughout the Bible there are multiple stories where the author wants to depict spaces where human life does not flourish. These are the chaos spaces or "wilderness" places, which are adverse to the ordered world humanity needs in order to live. The great surprise of the theme is that in God's loving kindness He chooses to enter those spaces to rescue His people. During these moments in the stories we see the workings of the Gospel message being worked out before Jesus arrives on the scene to perform His grand Exodus as our new Moses.

In this episode we have special guest Timothy Brindle on to discuss the Old Testament book of Jonah. For those who grew up in the church, Jonah and the "Whale" is a classic story told and retold throughout our lives. It's tempting to think we understand the book's meaning because of its familiarity, but the key to correct interpretation is seeing Christ in the story. Join us as we discuss with Tim the various themes that help to illuminate this particular minor prophet, and how Jesus is the better Jonah.
Timothy Brindle has been making Christ-centered hip-hop since 2003 in which he uses lyricism to expound the truth of Jesus in Scripture. His most recently released album and its corresponding book, The Unfolding, was written to show how the entire Bible is God's one unfolding plan of redemption in Christ.

For today's show we have special guest Israel Wayne on the podcast to discuss the topic of schooling from a Biblical perspective. To the surprise of many Christians in modernity, the Bible isn't neutral when it discusses education. Most succinctly put, Proverbs 22:6 says: "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."
In this episode we want to make a Christian case for homeschooling. Our heart behind to episode is to lovingly challenge one other to think Biblically about this controversial matter, and to do it with patience and charity. Let us always be willing to reform our views so that they are in alignment with scripture.
Israel Wayne is an author and conference speaker and Director of Family Renewal. He and his wife, Brook, are raising their eleven children in SW Michigan. Israel has a passion for defending the Christian faith and promoting a Biblical worldview. He is the author of the books Questions God Asks, Questions Jesus Asks, Pitchin’ a Fit: Overcoming Angry and Stressed-Out Parenting, Education: Does God Have an Opinion? and Answers for Homeschooling: Top 25 Questions Critics Ask and Raising Them Up: Parenting for Christians.
