Shakespeare on the Couch: Hamlet

Listen Later

Dr. Dan Gottlieb returns as therapist to the complex characters of Shakespeare’s plays. Hamlet is the most studied, most performed and most adapted of Shakespeare’s plays by far, possibly of any play ever. Featuring Carmen Khan, Artistic Executive Director of The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre and actor Josh Kachnycz as Hamlet, Dr. Dan improvises a therapy session with Hamlet and later the three discuss why Hamlet is such an interesting character study. The play deals in grand and ageless themes of the human condition— loss and betrayal, the need for truth, the complexity of human desire, and the parent-child relationship.
