  • A Message From Brad Blanks About His New Puppy

Hey, thanks for the outpouring of lovely comments about my family's endeavors to find a dog.

My wife, Juliette, grew up in a dog-loving family and has been looking forward to finding the right dog for our family, while also living in a New York City apartment. We started by looking at rescue dogs, and my wife phoned a large number of shelters. Due to the pandemic and lockdown there was an amazingly high demand for rescue dogs, which made it difficult for us to find the specific requirements of size and temperament,  while ensuring my son’s allergy issues were kept in check.

With the Cavapoo breed in mind, my wife diligently explored breeders throughout the Tri-state area. Proving to be a popular dog with New Yorkers, there weren’t any in the area that seemed to be reputable. We were referred to a breeder in Ohio who had one puppy left of the litter.

My wife checked more references and recommendations about this breeder, and checked photos of the puppy’s mother. My wife also had extensive phone conversations with the breeder to ensure that he was upstanding and humane in his breeding -- and most importantly a dog lover. He ticked all of those boxes. Most importantly, he asked us a number of questions to ensure that the dog was coming to a loving home, where the puppy would flourish and grow.

We picked the puppy up from the dog breeder's small family-owned farm yesterday. Meeting the breeder and his family and seeing his love for dogs underlined that we were purchasing our first family dog from the right breeder. He gave us a one year guarantee on any health issues, and a contract was signed.
Thanks for all your wonderful messages and messages of concern. Little Sammy has been with us for one day, and the joy on my children’s faces is something I’ve never seen before.

I hope the stories on the radio from Scott and Patty, and now myself, have brought back some amazing memories of when your family became a dog family. As you can see in this photo, I wish I had become a dog guy a lot earlier than this.
