I love sharing with others how Shaped by Faith got started and the greater purpose behind it. Since it is Heart Month I decided to have Randy Lanham, producer of my TV show interview me about Shaped by Faith. I share that I have gone through 2 open heart surgeries because of a congenital heart defect I was born with, 3 holes in my heart. Bruce Sheldon is a Volunteer and Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Owensboro, KY. Bruce shares the story and history behind Sleep in Heavenly Peace and how it got started. He also talks about how and why he got involved with Sleep in Heavenly Peace and how this organization has impacted his life and the lives of others. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is an organization made up of volunteers who are dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch beds and bunk beds to children and families in need. Helga Wade is actively involved with a program through her church called Bags of Love. She is filling these bags with hygiene items, games, stuffed animals, and toys. When Helga’s husband passed away, instead of being depressed and sitting around her home, she decided to get up and do something nice for children. Helga wanted to do something that would put a smile on a child’s face and brighten their day. She found out about the Bags of Love program and decided this was the ministry opportunity she had been seeking the Lord about. Her and a group of women meet every Wednesday at their Church and sew new quilts and bags for each child. Keep reading...

Lori Lewis is an ambassador for “A Safe Haven for Newborns.” Save Haven is dedicated to saving the precious lives of newborns from the dangers of abandonment. Safe Haven for Newborns is dedicated to reaching pregnant girls and mothers before they reach the crisis stage. They assist them as they make their decision in the best interest of their baby and themselves, whether with counseling, parenting, health related issues, adoption or confidentially placing their newborn with a “Safe Haven”. My First guest of this New Year is the Rev. Conner Reed. He is the Pastor of Youth at Macedonia Baptist Church.  Conner has lost over 120 pounds! There was a time when his weight reached 430 pounds. Conner agrees that we can help each other and give encouragement when it comes to taking care of our bodies as a way of honoring God. Conner shares some practical tips on where to start with weight loss and some things we can do to get moving. I always love hearing from Gwen Bennett the founder of Shepherds Hand Ministry, a Non-profit Christian based organization. Since our first Shaped by Faith radio interview a few years ago, Shepherds Hand Ministry has gone from a clothing ministry working out of a doublewide trailer to 6000 square feet at Good Shepherd Church and two mobile clothing trailers and a food pantry. Gwen said with the help of this community and God our father many have been served with both food and clothing. This year Shepherds Hand started a food ministry. This year the Christmas show is going to be virtual so everyone can take part in the show, so much fun! The Lanham Brothers Jamboree Virtual Christmas Show Fundraiser for Volunteer Owensboro and the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum will be free to the public starting Saturday December 12th at 7pm. This interactive show will be headlined by country star Wade Hayes!
