Sharing your faith. It's really the most important thing you could do. You know that, right?

Our most important goal and purpose is to bring God glory by sharing the Good News of the Gospel with the lost. It was Jesus' last command before He ascended into heaven, and it is our first concern. Junior is a biker, a real tough guy and not a talker. In fact, Junior was incredibly shy and liked to fade into the background. That is, until he met Jesus and learned to share the Gospel! Now Junior says it's too urgent. He has to share the Gospel whenever he can. Dear listener, it really is urgent. We only have today to share the Gospel, so what are you waiting for?

You just need to be willing to open your mouth and let the Lord use you. If you're not confident in sharing your faith, we're here to help!

Are you walking with the Lord? You've probably heard that phrase, walking with the Lord, many times. But have you stopped to think about what it means?

First John two six (2:6) says, "The one who says he resides in God ought himself to walk just as Jesus walked." Now, those are big shoes to fill! Jesus walked on water! He healed the sick and raised the dead! How on earth could you possibly walk as Jesus walked? Here's the grace of God: even though we'll never be able to live a perfect life, we can know the One who did. We can have a very real relationship with Him and we can share with others how they can know Him, too.

Walking just as Jesus walked won't make you superhuman, but it will give you a supernatural love for others, and that love will enable you to tell them the Good News of the Gospel.

What is real love? That is a question that all of humanity has wrestled with. You see, we all need love. In fact, we were made for it! When God created man and woman, He did so in His own image and declared it good. And the Bible tells us over and over about the Father’s love for us.

There’s a hymn you may have heard before that says, “How deep the Father’s love for us; how vast beyond all measure…that He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure.” Jesus told his disciples in John fifteen that “greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Did you know that Jesus—who is God Himself—not only came to earth but died on the cross for our sins in our place? Greater love has no one than this. And Jesus charges us to share His love with others.

Sometimes, we can get discouraged by the darkness we see around us. Even turning on the news can cause us to lose hope. But let me share with you today second Corinthians four six (4:6), which says, “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

The world looks very similar to the way it was over two thousand years ago when Jesus first stepped foot on it. And just as He brought light to dark hearts then, He continues to do so now through transforming those who trust in Him from the inside out. He replaces our old, sinful hearts with new ones.

And as new creations, we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, lighting our souls with joy and peace. So let’s not keep it to ourselves. Let’s share our faith and give the hope the Gospel to others.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” This beautiful verse from Psalm twenty-seven teaches us an important truth about Jesus—He is our light and our salvation.

Jesus did not come just to be a good example and a great teacher for us—the Bible tells us that He is our Savior. Romans three says that “the wages of sin is death,” and every person who has sinned has to pay it. Jesus told his disciples that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”

Well, all means all—that’s all all means! Every human has fallen short of the standard. But praise be to God! Jesus was more than just another man—He was God in the flesh who died on the cross for our sins. He is our light and salvation. Who can you share this Good News with today?

In the famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells His disciples, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.[…]In the same way, let your light shine before others.” That is a big responsibility!

When people look at us, they should see the light of Jesus shining through. It reminds me of that age old song taught in Sunday school: “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…” Well, how do we shine for Jesus? Firstly, we need to continually grow in Him; and as we are sharpened and shaped to be more like Christ, we reflect who He is. But it can’t stop there.

We not only need to become more like Jesus; we also need to tell others about what He has done for us on the cross. Paul tells us that faith comes by hearing, and we want others to have the opportunity to know Jesus too!

What does it mean to be real light to those around us? Actually, there is no one better to tell us than Jesus Himself. Our Savior declares about Himself in John 8, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

When we place our trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, His light lives in us. And we can shine it in our families, our communities, and our nations. And truly, we need to! There are so many things we try to substitute for it. We believe the lie that passions and success will fill us up with light and life, only to leave us empty. But hallelujah! Jesus made a way for us to have real light through His work on the cross.

In Matthew twenty-eight, eighteen through twenty (28:18-20), Jesus gives His disciples the very famous and important Great Commission. This commission extends to us even today: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Christ’s call to action for us is not simply a command; it’s an invitation for all Christ-followers to grow in faith. Through walking in obedience to His last command, we accept the call and faithfully share with others and make disciples. And truly, our Savior deserves our utmost loyalty!

Because of His great sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead, all who put their trust in Him can receive the gift of eternal life. And that’s us! In gratitude, let’s be faithful to His call today and tell someone the amazing news of salvation.

The focus of the Great Commission is not making converts, but rather in making disciples. Well, what does sharing our faith have to do with discipleship? 

Actually, there is a direct connection. Someone has told me before that he couldn’t share his faith in Christ if he’s not walking the walk. And in that sense, when you’re actively sharing the Gospel, it becomes a discipling ministry on its own for you to grow more like Jesus. But there’s even more to it than that. Bill comes to mind. He was a churchgoer for 56 years of his life, yet he didn’t have a personal relationship with Christ. Can you imagine, all of those years attending church and missing the main message? 

Sadly, he’s not alone. But Bill wanted to talk with people about spiritual things. So he learned how to share his faith, and the very thing he was determined to grow in became the door to his own salvation.

Sometimes, I think that we convince ourselves that no one wants to hear the Gospel or that we would bother people with it. Well, let me tell you a testimony from my own life. We see this happen again and again, week after week as we disciple Christians to share their faith. It was an ordinary Saturday afternoon.

I took my team to a laundromat. We had some wonderful conversations and were about to leave when a white car pulled. A young man leaned out and cried, "Me next. Do me next!" I wasn’t sure if he actually knew that we wanted to share with him, but when I asked him if he really wanted to hear the Gospel, he said, “Yes, please share with me!”

After telling him about Jesus, he and his 19 year old girlfriend prayed to receive Christ right there in the laundromat parking lot. God has uniquely fitted us for this time. All we must do is be willing to share.
