Her current project focuses on a part of the brain called the cingulum bundle, a major neural connective highway involved in learning, memory, and emotional response regulation. This research is a subset of a larger research story that seeks to understand the risk factors and comorbidities of PTSD in a metropolitan population of Black Americans.

This episode of #ShareScience features Yelena Akelina, DVM, MS, a Research Scientist and the Co-Director/Instructor in Clinical Microsurgery at the Microsurgery Research and Training Lab at Columbia University.
