Ever feel like giving up? You try and fail. You make promises and then break them. Sometimes it seems like we’ll never “get it right.” That’s why this message is so important. Even when we feel like giving up on ourselves, God never does. He never stops calling us, searching for us, or believing in us. His love is RELENTLESS.

As Jeremiah points forward to Jesus, he reminds us that we cannot make ourselves right before God, no matter how hard we try. That’s why Jeremiah refers to Jesus as Yahweh Tsidkenu, “The Lord Is Our Righteousness”. This message will explore how it is Jesus who not only makes us righteous, but also keeps us on the righteous path!

What’s the “fire” God has put inside of you right now? Maybe it’s a calling to a vocation. Maybe it’s a person He wants you to talk to. Maybe it’s a role He’s challenging you to fill. When God wants to work through us, He lights a fire within us. So, what’s the fire in YOUR bones?

Jesus concludes His prayer with a reminder that we have an Enemy who seeks to derail us. But God is our Protector and our Defender. If we lean into Him and stay close by His side, we will have the victory!

Jesus uses this part of the prayer to remind us of two of the most important truths in scripture. One is that our God is a God of Great Grace who is willing to forgive us if we confess our sins in brokenness. The second truth is that we are to pass that grace along to those who sin against us.

In the wilderness, the Israelites depended on God to give them manna each day for their survival. Jesus reminds us that God is still our Helper, our Provider, and the God who is responsive to the requests of His people. All we have to do is ask.

Jesus reminds us that prayer is not about getting God to do what WE want, but posturing ourselves to do what HE wants. Just as Jesus surrendered to the will of the Father in Gethsemane, so we should daily surrender our lives to His will and His way.
