We made it to Shasta! Still no new pack, but hopefully by Ashland, I will get one. We walked through a section that a lot of people skipped or had to turn back from because of smoke, and saw a beautiful view of Mount Shasta. The section that was closed from Aetna just reopened, so fingers crossed I'll be able to walk through the entire day of California into Oregon just about a week!
