At the very least they hope to stop the progress of rebuilding by making Nehemiah fearful. When we are tempted to fear in our lives, as Nehemiah was, we must remember, as Nehemiah did, that the perfect love of God makes fear afraid.

Nehemiah steps in and lovingly confronts the sin being committed, as well as the sin in his own life. We also are called to confront sin as we step into community. Jesus, being the greater Nehemiah, demonstrated this for us; He lovingly confronted us in our sin and ultimately gave His life for us so we can be forgiven.
