We start at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, where Team USA clinched gold in women’s hockey with a dramatic overtime win against Canada. Tournament MVP Caroline Harvey dominated both ends of the ice, while Laila Edwards made history as one of the first Black women to compete for the U.S. Olympic hockey team.

But the celebration didn’t last long. A post-game phone call from the president to the men’s teamand a joke that followed pulled the women back into damage control, forcing captain Hilary Knight to respond publicly. Once again, women were asked to clean up men’s messes instead of simply enjoying their win.
