Smriti Notani has a penchant for wit, a bit of a foul mouth, and some astute observational skills - at the core of what she does lies an inherent need to see Indian women, especially future generations, lead a more evolved and fair existence. She believes that her work has a higher purpose and that is reflected in every piece of content she creates – be it in her role as a podcaster, blogger, or writer.
In this episode we discussed the nuances of creating content, creating your own rules and not following the herd, unpacking the popular conversation of algorithm vs audience, being honest on the internet, positive affirmations and our mutual love for the Kardashians (while also acknowledging their problematic tactics).
From being a copywriter at a renowned ad agency (FCB ULKA) to being a senior lifestyle writer at POPxo, she’s dabbled quite a bit in the content and media world. Previously she has contributed to Indiatimes, Lifestyle Asia, Nykaa Beauty Book, WedMeGood, Mumbai Mag etc. She continues to freelance as an editorial writer and content writer with some great websites and brands. She’s also the Founder of 'REAL GIRL' - an unfiltered lifestyle blog for Indian women, apart from helming her own podcast show 'Real Talk with Smriti Notani'.
She was also recently published in a book - ‘Sindhi Tapestry: An Anthology of Reflections on the Sindhi Identity’, making her a published poet.
She also has her own single out which is available on all Streaming Platforms called ‘Real Girl Anthem’ which released on Women’s Day 2021 and is a spoken word piece. It was subsequently adapted into a video powered by My Glamm & POPxo. She also conducts Workshops on Content Creation and Podcasting.
