According to renowned Indonesian academic and policymaker Dewi Fortuna Anwar, women—like men—can be either spoilers or contributors to peace. Despite the success of women peacebuilders in solving community-level conflicts across the region, Dewi, Amina, and Ayesah had much to say about the continued exclusion of women from peace processes in ASEAN countries. As an expert on Indonesian foreign policy, Professor Dewi also weighs in on how Indonesia can use its "nurturing role" in the ASEAN to champion the Regional Plan of Action on Women, Peace and Security.
