About Dawn:  Dawn Pumpelly is the owner and founder of The Scout Guide Huntsville (TSG), a yearly publication that highlights local businesses, creatives, experts, and the community. While not a Huntsville native, has been a part of the community for in the past 29 years. Having grown up in Pennsylvania, Dawn's connection to Huntsville is though her father and stepmother, who owned and operated multiple senior living facilities in the area.  

 Dawn and her husband moved to Huntsville in 2003 to be a part of her family's business. The company was ultimately sold in 2017, at which point Dawn dedicated time to raising her son. Prior to her ownership of The Scout Guide, Dawn worked for BellSouth in which she learned that she was passionate about learning about people's businesses and connecting with the community.  This passion has carried over into Dawn's work with The Scout Guide Huntsville.  

The Scout Guide is a franchise that operates out of 70+ cities with more being added every year. The Scout Guide Huntsville has been celebrating the Huntsville area since 2018. We love our little city, but the crown for Madison’s star cheerleader goes to Erica DeSpain, founder & CEO of All Things Madison.  She’s a visionary storyteller with a passion for her hometown and a love for sharing everything it has to offer.

After graduating from the University of Alabama and seeing the world as an active-duty Army wife, Erica and her family decided to return to Madison to plant roots and raise their three young daughters. In 2020, she tapped into her background in journalism, public speaking, and education to create All Things Madison, an online “one stop shop” resource for those who live, work in, or visit Madison. In it, Erica uses her craft of storytelling to produce highly engaging content as a means of marketing and advertising for local businesses.

Erica’s work as founder, CEO, and editor of All Things Madison is a labor of love that is meaningful not just for herself, but also the lives she touches through connecting community members with businesses, resources, and events. In addition to All Things Madison, Erica is an author, a nationwide school public speaker for non-profit Rachel’s Challenge, and an online contributor to publications including the TODAY Show and Motherly.com. She also serves as Madison Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and Madison Street Festival Business Showcase Chair.

Kim Caulde Lewis is a lifelong resident of North Alabama, born and raised on a farm in Triana and currently living in Harvest with her family.

Kim started her first business in 2002 and has continued to create jobs and economic growth in North Alabama ever since. She is the founder of PROJECTXYZ, a business that provides services in technology, manufacturing, and engineering to commercial and governmental customers. She and her husband, Larry, own and operate multiple businesses across North Alabama like the Entrepreneurial Center (TEC 515), an incubator facility for start-up companies and small businesses in need of support.

Kim’s success as a businesswoman has afforded her the opportunity to invest in small businesses across North Alabama, saving jobs in danger of being lost and ensuring anchors in the community continue into the next generation.  

In addition to her personal business success, Kim has served the community as Chair of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, the first Black female ever elected as Board Chair. In her time as Chair in 2019, she led $1.8 billion in capital investment in Huntsville, Madison and Limestone County and helped create over 3,000 new jobs.  

Kim has quietly served her community in a number of other ways as well—on boards for Huntsville Utilities, Cummings Research Park, Crestwood Medical Center, Health Establishments at Local Schools (HEALS), the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH) Foundation, and the John C. Calhoun State Community College Foundation Board and on the PTA at her daughter’s school.
