Happy 2026! No time like the present to deal with a long time lingering problem- My broken Vagina! Yep, that's right friends, I have Vulvodynia but & more specifically Vulvar Vestibulitis, fancy words for chronic pelvic pain, which I've suffered from since my early 30s. I've been in denial for awhile now and haven't addressed this issue in a long time, so I figured, here I am co-creating a podcast that embodies women's empowerment, recognition and perseverance, so it seems strange that I've been unwilling to deal with my broken vagina until now, but hey, again it's a new year and I gotta try to get back on track and see what can be done. Besides, it's not everyday that I get to talk about my vagina! Yay!

Join me in my journey, as I seek out medical assistance and try new things to re- address this issue. Joining me in future episodes will be both my Doctor & my Pelvic floor therapist, so stay tuned! And I'd sure love to hear from you if you too suffer from chronic pelvic pain. We'd LOVE the opportunity to talk to other women who are willing to share their stories and see if we can't make this a bigger conversation, since unfortunately Women's health continues to be significantly underfunded.

Donaldina Cameron was a Presbyterian missionary, pioneer and also a real life action hero, in the fight against slavery in San Francisco's Chinatown. In this episode we get to hear about Cameron & her trusty sidekick Tien Wu in full action hero glory- secret mission rescues, axing down doors, being locked in jail cells and escaping crumbling buildings. These Sheelas didn't mess around and we're willing to fearlessly fight for the freedom of more than 3,000 Chinese immigrant girls and women, from forced prostitution or indentured servitude, working tirelessly from 1895 to 1934.

Her harrowing & dangerous missions never kept her from accomplishing her goal to rescue these women, working tirelessly from 1895 to 1934.

But in the boys’ club of banking and finance, women were still infantilized–no credit without a male cosigner, and their income was dismissed as unreliable. If bankers weren’t going to accommodate women, then women had to take control of their own futures. The Women's Bank of Denver, opened in 1978 by eight pioneering women, who changed everything!

The Women's Bank of Denver was a groundbreaking financial institution becoming the nation's most successful women's bank, proving women's financial viability, attracting diverse customers, and fostering financial independence. This banking enterprise also placed educating and supporting women at the forefront of its business model.

What if you were a woman with strong views and not afraid to share those views? What if this landed you imprisoned in an insane asylum for 3 ½ years!?
Meet Elizabeth Packard, born in 1816. Like many other women of her era, Elizabeth settled into domestic life as a wife and mother. The couple had six children and led a fairly peaceful life, until Elizabeth started questioning the beliefs of her strict Calvinist minister husband.
He retaliated by having Elizabeth committed to an insane asylum. In fact, all that was required was a letter from two doctors attesting to her insanity. The doctors were not even required to examine or talk to her; they could simply take her husband’s testimony as proof, referring to a law that existed at this time
During the next three and a half years, Elizabeth was held as a virtual prisoner. She was denied all contact with her children, friends, or other family members. She was also subjected to horrific physical and emotional abuse
But what had perhaps shocked Elizabeth the most was the realization that an overwhelming number of the women she met in the hospital were married women like her—perfectly sane but whose husbands had them committed to ‘keep them in line.’
Elizabeth Packard became a social reformer whose mental hospital experiences began her quest for protective legislation for the insane and improved married women’s rights. She wrote numerous books and lobbied legislatures literally from coast to coast, advocating more stringent commitment laws, protections for the rights of asylum patients, and laws to give married women equal rights in matters of child custody, property and earnings.
