Sheep Among Wolves

In this episode, we open the pages of the Aberrant Practices document compiled by Pastor Ernie Gruen and his team. As we begin, we'll tackle two pressing questions: Is the New Covenant inferior to the Old? And what lies at the heart of the controversy surrounding Mike Bickle’s movement?Aberrant Practices Document: https://tinyurl.com/y3hwhx2cThanks for hanging out with me today! If you have been blessed by this content and would like to help support the things we do here, you may do so by visiting: https://www.sheepamongwolves.org/supportFor everything SAW-related, check out our official website:www.sheepamongwolves.orgQuestions, comments, concerns, snarks, or conundrums? Today we’re examining several blog posts I discovered while researching the Ernie Gruen/Mike Bickle situation. These posts serve as a sober warning to pastors and Christian leaders, as they offer firsthand accounts of the fallout that comes when ministers fail.Aberrant Practices Document: https://tinyurl.com/y3hwhx2cBrandon McCoy | The Kansas City Prophet: https://tinyurl.com/2b83jhtbEmail From Ernie Gruen: https://tinyurl.com/bdhtpu79Matthew Hartke | From Charismatic to Agnostic: https://tinyurl.com/ppcs3fnxAndy Bondurant | A Faith Built to Last: https://tinyurl.com/34myzetkThanks for hanging out with me today! Ernie Gruen’s False Prophets (1990) includes both his own interview and the testimony of a former Kansas City Fellowship member. Together, they document alleged abuses of prophetic authority, fabricated revelations, and manipulative practices within KCF. Gruen’s interview outlines his pastoral concerns, while the ex-member’s testimony provides firsthand accounts of deception, fear, and disillusionment. Today, we're diving into Ernie Gruen’s interview and the testimony of the former Kansas City Fellowship member, as documented in his book False Prophets.Aberrant Practices Document: https://tinyurl.com/y3hwhx2cThanks for hanging out with me today! Following his sermon Do We Keep Smiling and Say Nothing?, Pastor Ernie Gruen issued an open letter to Mike Bickle and Kansas City Fellowship, charging the movement with aberrant practices, false prophecies, and spiritual manipulation, which Gruen believed were unbiblical and harmful, igniting a major controversy in the charismatic church world. It was later published in his book False Prophets and in the Aberrant Practices Document prepared with his staff. Today, we turn to that letter to uncover its warnings and consider their relevance for modern prophetic movements.Aberrant Practices Document: https://tinyurl.com/y3hwhx2cThanks for hanging out with me today! In the early 1990s, Kansas City pastor Ernie Gruen sounded an alarm against aberrant practices at Kansas City Fellowship—later known as the International House of Prayer (IHOP). His sermon, Do We Keep Smiling and Say Nothing?, was later published in his book False Prophets. Today, we revisit Gruen’s warning as we begin exploring the world of Mike Bickle, IHOP, and the Kansas City Prophets—and what their influence means for believers navigating modern prophetic movements.Aberrant Practices Document: https://tinyurl.com/y3hwhx2cThanks for hanging out with me today! In our tenth and final episode of our The Physics of Heaven series, we're going to be looking at two more chapters by co-author, Ellyn Davis. Chapter 11 and 12 deal greatly with quantum physics, quantum mysticism, and their compatibility with Christianity. At the end of chapter 12, the author states, "We believe that the closer and more dedicated our walk with God is, the more we can fully understand and experience the implications of what it means to be “one” with Him like Jesus was. We also believe that our experiences of being one with Him can actually become a way of life to the point that we will consistently be able to alter the nature of reality with our words, thoughts, and intentions."00:00:00 - Chapter 11 Introduction "Ellyn Davis: Strange Things Are Afoot00:05:21 - Let's Talk About Quantum Physics00:16:10 - Quantum Physics Are Strange00:24:06 - Quantum Physics Lead to Quantum Mysticism00:46:55 - Chapter 12 Introduction "Ellyn Davis: Quantum Mysticism"00:47:05 - Quantum Mysticism Leads to Christian Truths01:17:38 - Are Quantum Mysticism & Christianity Compatible?01:21:03 - God TruthsThanks for hanging out with me today! In part seven of our series on The Physics of Heaven, the authors tell us "Modern scientific discoveries have recently joined the voice of ancient sacred writings to pull back the veil of ignorance that once shrouded the power of sound in God’s universe. Today these applied sciences and theologies can be woven together toward the redemptive understanding of sounds that heal, deliver, destroy, and open up portals in the heavenly realms. In part six of our series on The Physics of Heaven, we're going to be looking at two chapters. The first, "Good Vibrations", is written by one of the co-authors of the book, Ellyn Davis. The second one is, "Sound of Heaven Symphony of Earth", written by Ray Hughes. The authors tell us "There is much we don’t know yet about sound and its relationship to the unveiling of God’s glory. In this chapter Ray Hughes shares how God released heavenly sounds each time He interacted with mankind in a significant way and He has created each of us to make a unique “sound” that reflects His glory on Earth."00:00:00 - Chapter 6 Introduction "Ellyn Davis: Good Vibrations"00:01:47 - We Can Understand God Through Vibrations00:18:57 - A Basic Science Lesson About Vibrations00:25:39 - Ellyn's Summary00:31:32 - Chapter 7 Introduction "Ray Hughes: Sound of Heaven"00:33:07 - Heaven's Sound01:14:49 - Ray's SummaryThanks for hanging out with me today! If you have been blessed by this content and would like to help support the things we do here, you may do so by visiting: https://www.sheepamongwolves.org/supportFor everything SAW-related, check out our official website:www.sheepamongwolves.orgQuestions, comments, concerns, snarks, or conundrums?
