    In Episode 13 of the Sheffield's Hidden Gems podcast, our guests are Glenda Strong (Illustrator) and Rebecca Norton (Coach) talk about their new business venture, 'Create Your Next Chapter, retreats for women'. Glenda and Rebecca created the 'Create Your Next Chapter, a weekend retreat exclusively for women in 2020 at a time when the UK and other countries around the world faced the global pandemic caused by the covid-19 virus.


    Born out of a time and uncertainty, and launched between Lockdowns 1 and 2 in the UK, the retreat is a weekend of beginner-level watercolour painting and walking for women. In this venture,

    Rebecca and Glenda were able to combine their passions and draw on their areas of expertise, coaching and watercolour painting, respectively.

    In this interview Steve Rundell (CEO) and Laura Baker (Fundraising and Communication Coordinator) talk about Nomad and share insights into the work of the charity in helping homeless people in Sheffield. Since founding over 30 years ago, Nomad has provided accommodation and much more to help people live more stable and secure lives in Sheffield.

    Some mind-numbing facts:
    -'Sofa surfing' is the hidden face of the homelessness crisis in the UK.
    -In 2018, over 200,000 people in the UK had no place to call home. Instead, they were sleeping 'rough' (including on streets), on sofas of friends and relatives or in 'temporary' hotel accommodation. These adults didn't have a place to call 'home'.
    -In Sheffield, Nomad provides over 16,500 nights of accommodation each year for 60 individuals who are homeless.

    Through its lettings agency (Four Trees Lettings) Nomad works also with landlords and property investors interested in impact investing to manage their properties and in the process provide affordable co-living accommodation for their service users.
