You've more than likely have seen Sheinelle Jones co-hosting the third hour of The Today Show, or on her series, Through Mom's Eyes where she interviews the mothers of America's favorite celebrities. Or perhaps co-hosting her SiriusXM radio show. Needless to say she's at the top of her game and makes it look easy, but obviously it's not. Sheinelle has wanted to be a broadcast journalist since she was a little girl and has put the work in ever since she realized her dream.
In this episode, Sheinelle recounts the long road to her success, working local markets like Springfield, Philadelphia, and Tulsa before making it to NY. She opens up about the journey and how she was one of few black journalists that got the opportunity to do the job. She also shares the support and guidance from family and peers that helped her achieve her career in television broadcasting, and how the support of her community helped her find her voice when she didn't feel seen.
