On this bonus episode of the 12 Days of Cruise-mas (In July) Calvin is joined by Tom Cruise aficionado Owen Meyer to discuss Stanley Kubrick's final film: Eyes Wide Shut. The film, released in 1999, stars Cruise and Nicole Kidman- who were married in real life at the time of filming- as a married couple navigating challenges of infidelity, desire, and the secrets we keep.

For the 12th day of Cruise-mas (In July) Calvin is joined by Luke Meyer to tackle another Tom Cruise Double Feature. The first being Top Gun, released in 1986 and directed by Tony Scott. Cruise plays Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a reckless Navy Pilot who is enrolled in the Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons school. The film features a young Cruise cementing himself as a pop culture icon and heartthrob.

They then turn their focus to Top Gun: Maverick , released in 2022 and directed by Joseph Kosinski. The film is a sequel to the original, and comes 36 years after the initial film. Cruise, reprising his role as Pete Mitchell, is tasked with training the next generation of Navy pilots to complete a near impossible mission.

Calvin is joined by Shrey once again for a special double feature episode of the 12 Days of Cruise-mas (in July). They start with the 1996 film Mission:Impossible, the franchise kickoff, where Tom Cruise begins legendary role as Ethan Hunt. Under the direction of Brian De Palma, Cruise blends action hero summer blockbuster aspirations with espionage thriller.

For the second film, the boys fast forward 22 years to 2018, with the release of the the 6th entry in the franchise, Mission: Impossible - Fallout. MI6 Fallout, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is a landmark in the action genre, with Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill upping the ante in a gripping, high octane film.

Calvin is joined by Allan Ramaroson to discuss Doug Liman's 2014 film, Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Cruise plays Major William Cage, who is trapped in a loop of dying and reliving the same day over and over again and must figure out a way to defeat the alien forces that threaten the planet.

Calvin is reunited with his Cruise Consigliere, Shrey Parikh to discuss Michael Mann's 2004 film, Collateral. The film stars Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx, Mark Ruffalo and Jada Pinkett Smith. Cruise plays Vincent, a ruthless hitman who is being driven around LA by taxi driver Max (Foxx) as he attempts take out five targets.

Calvin is joined by Anna Brander to discuss Stephen Spielberg's 2002 Sci-fi thriller, Minority Report. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, head of the precrime unit that aims to stop murders before they happen utilizing the skills of psychic humans called precogs. Cruise is accused of a future murder of a man he has never met- which sends him on the run and the pursuit of the truth.

Calvin is joined by Jamie Prenkert, his dad, to break down Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 drama, Magnolia. Tom Cruise plays Frank TJ Mackey, a misogynistic dating guru in the film and would earned a best supporting actor nomination for the his portrayal. The film is a sprawling 3 hours and features a star studded ensemble cast (including William H. Macy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore, Philip Baker Hall & John C. Reilly and more) all playing characters who's lives are interwoven over the course of 24 hours in the San Fernando Valley.

EMERGENCY bonus podcast! In this episode Calvin convenes with his Tom Cruise Consigliere, Shrey Parikh, to discuss the newly released Digger trailer. The film, slated for an October 2nd release, is directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and stars Tom Cruise alongside Sandra Huller, Riz Ahmed, John Goodman and Jesse Plemons.

One part sports movie, one part rom com, this movie stars Tom Cruise as the titular character, a successful sports agent who has a crisis of conscience. The role earned Cruise his second nomination for Best actor at the Oscars, and is a fan favorite within the Cruise catalogue.

Calvin is joined once again by Carter Sims (of the Rough Cut Retrospective Podcast) to cover Rob Reiner's 1992 legal thriller, A Few Good Men. Cruise plays Lt. Daniel Kaffee, a brilliant but lazy United States Navy Lawyer who is assigned to defend two U.S. Marines facing court-martial for the murder of a fellow soldier at Guantanamo Bay.
