  • The Exorcist (1973) - She's Alive!

CW: sexual assault & sexual abuse

What an excellent day for discussing William Friedkin's The Exorcist (1973), the film's impact on horror as a whole, and what it says about the world it inhabited.

On this episode of She's Alive! we're chatting the Catholic Church, moral panics, the concept of a girl experiencing puberty, and why the real exorcism was the bodily autonomy we lost along the way.

Sincere apologies for the edit this week, our dog was barking loads, so I did my best to cut that out.

We're coming in here with that energy man and spending a full 51 minutes chatting about film of the year, Curry Barker's Obsession.

Nikki did nothing wrong, Bear is of course the worst, and practical effects are always the goat.

  • The Blair Witch Project (1999) - She's Alive!

THAT's your motivation! It's the second week of October and we're covering found footage behemoth, The Blair Witch Project (1999).

The marketing, the vibe, the ENDING - there are so many reasons why this horror has become such a classic, and we talk about them.

Jade also has some serious vocal fry and we still don't have mics, but not for long.

Contact us here and tell us what to cover next, what to shut up about etc: [email protected]

  • Hereditary (2018) - She's Alive!

It's episode one! And we want to know what the story is with that face on your face!

Ari Aster's Hereditary (2018) is a genuinely harrowing piece of work, which ultimately makes it one of our favourite horror movies of all time.

In our pilot episode, we're chatting about motherhood, grief, the origins of elevated horror, and of course , Toni Collette's incredible should-have-been-oscar-nominated performance.

We don't have any way to contact the show yet but we might do next time - sorry!

About She's Alive!

From the publisher's feed

She's Alive! is a podcast about women in horror by two women who love horror. Hosted by Jade & Claire, each episode delves deep into a piece of horror media (probably a film, let's be honest) to chat all about its lore, why we liked (or didn't like) it, and of course, to discuss the women in front of or behind the camera.
