Nobody wants to hear the words...you have Cancer!!
How do you heal on Active Duty with the constant demands and career expectations? Frankly, my guest this week is the very definition of resiliency!! She epitomizes strength as a Woman, Mother Leader. Her personality of endurance and positive attitude is most definitely a contributing factor to her healing through a terminal illness.
I have the pleasure of knowing her personally and have had the pleasure of admiring her and watching her raise the bar consistently throughout her career both in & out of uniform. She is truly one of a kind!!!
Read her bio below:
Crystal Gwendo is a veteran, who completed 13 years in the US Air Force before her life drastically changed. Crystal is the daughter to Jamaican immigrant parents, who taught her that the world is her oyster and there was nothing she couldn’t accomplish.
.
She had a blooming career in the military swiftly making E-6 and was on the verge of securing her next rank. She completed 4 degrees while in the military among countless other accomplishments and accolades!
.
Tragedy struck the Gwendo household when she was told she has a terminal illness. The Air Force lost a great asset, leader & Airman when she had to medically retire from the military and retire from the military and change her trajectory.
.
After enduring multiple surgeries, Crystal had to change her career path. She knew she wanted to continue to make a difference, so she entered the non-profit world.
.
Her commitment to excellence never faltered & is undeniable & she quickly rose to the top of her new organization! She is now the COO of an $11 million dollar company which ensures individuals and family reaches a level of self-sufficiency.
.
If you had to take anything from Crystal’s life, it’s; Life will never work out how you planned it, make different plans, treat everyone with love and respect and get your education.
.
As the Great John Lewis said “Every generation leaves behind a legacy. What that legacy will be is determined by the people of that generation.”
👑Crystal’s legacy will be that she changed the world, one person at a time.👑
