The iconic Imola circuit delivered yet another thrilling chapter in Formula 1 history as Max Verstappen clinched a hard-fought victory at the 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The reigning world champion held off a late surge from a resurgent McLaren team, securing valuable points in his title defense.
But the story didn’t end at the checkered flag.
McLaren stunned the paddock with a double podium, as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri crossed the line in second and third, respectively. However, what should have been a celebration for the Woking-based team was clouded by internal friction. With both drivers in striking distance of Verstappen in the final laps, a series of team radio exchanges suggested disagreement over team orders, or lack thereof.
Norris, having the pace advantage in the closing stages, questioned why he wasn't allowed to attack for the win.
