In this episode, we look back at the recent Ulster Final victory for the Boys U-15 Gaelic team against St. Colman's, Ballynahinch in front of a packed crowd in Newcastle. The boys would come out on top winning an incredible game 6-11 to 4-16. I speak to head coach, Barry Dagen as well as players Dara and Fahlin about their experiences on the day.

In this episode, we are pleased to feature Year 10 students Aoife and Dara, who will share their experiences in Athletics and Gaelic Football. Aoife has recently achieved notable success by winning Ulster titles both for the school and her club in the 1200m walk, and she has also represented Shimna at the All Ireland Championships in two events. Meanwhile, Dara has demonstrated significant talent in Gaelic football, recently earning himself a position on the Down U-15 squad and competing against various counties this season.

Joanne Mills is a Maths teacher at Shimna Integrated College and a former pupil of the school. Alongside teaching, she competes at a very high level in cross country and athletics. Most recently, she represented Northern Ireland at the UK Regional Cross Country Championships in England, where she helped achieve a historic milestone by securing the country’s first-ever female team silver medal at the event.

In this podcast, Joanne reflects on her journey from primary school to the present day, highlighting her development as an athlete and her successes, including Ulster and Irish titles won both for the school and her club.

Featured in this episode is our current Head Girl, Rachel Hodge who talks about her journey in Cricket at Shimna which led her all the way to representing Northern Ireland. We also chat about her time playing Gaelic football and her love of teaching swimming to local children. We then chat to year 8 student, Noah Sloan who is a very talented goalkeeper. He currently plays for Linfield and has been part of the Arsenal development centre in Belfast. We chat about his recent success for his team at the Super Cup NI and find out his goals for the future.
