  • Max Lucado Daily Devotional - Hear God’s Name

    Listen to Today's Devotion

Jesus says to us what he said to the disciples on the stormy sea. “It is I, don’t be afraid” (John 6:20). The literal translation of what Jesus said is, “I AM, don’t be afraid.”

I AM. That’s God’s name. When we wonder if God is coming, he answers with his name, I AM. When we wonder if he is able, he declares, I AM. When we see nothing but darkness, feel nothing but doubt, and wonder if God is near or aware, the welcome answer from Jesus is this: I AM.

Pause for a moment and let him tell you his name. Your greatest need is his presence. Yes, you want this storm to pass. Yes, you want the winds to still. But yes, yes, yes, you want to know and need to know and must know that the great I AM is near. Remember friends, you are never alone.

  • Take 2 Theology - The Unseen Realm 2.0 | Aliens Part 1: Making Sense of Disclosure and Lights in the Sky

    Season 3, Episode 15

In this episode, Michael and Zach are joined by Clay to begin a two-part discussion on aliens, UFOs, government disclosure, and how Christians might think about unexplained phenomena within a biblical worldview. The conversation starts by defining what “extraterrestrial” actually means and questioning the tendency to place every unusual encounter into only a few categories: angels, demons, extraterrestrials, or fabrication. From there, they consider the 1561 Nuremberg celestial phenomenon, recent government disclosures and radar reports, Diana Pasulka’s claims about material in the Vatican archives, and John Mack’s research into alleged abduction experiences. The discussion then turns toward Scripture, particularly the fiery chariots of 2 Kings 2 and 6, and the difficult question of how physical and spiritual realities might overlap. Throughout the episode, Michael, Zach, and Clay openly distinguish evidence from interpretation and speculation, laying the groundwork for a second conversation about why Christians are often hesitant to engage the subject and why any of this might matter.

  • Be Still and Know Daily Bible Devotion - October 20th - Matthew 5:3
    Matthew 5:3
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Today’s verse is the first of the so-called beatitudes. Before we launch into it, we need to be clear what Jesus meant by the kingdom of heaven, because it’s an expression He often used. To put it simply, the kingdom of heaven comes where God is allowed to be in control and, amazingly, that can happen in our lives today. That’s why Jesus encouraged us, in the Lord’s Prayer, to pray for His kingdom to come here on earth as it is in heaven. The kingdom of heaven gives us a preview of what heaven itself will be like, and it is, by definition, life at its very best.
Jesus declares that the people who possess this wonderful kingdom of heaven are those who are spiritually poor. The word used here for ‘poor’ in the original Greek language speaks of absolute poverty or destitution. Jesus is saying that the way into the kingdom of heaven is to understand that, spiritually, you’ve got nothing to offer apart from empty hands. We need to come to Jesus in absolute weakness knowing that we are totally dependent upon Him. It reminds us of the time when Jesus said that the only way to enter His kingdom is by becoming like a little child (Matthew 18:2-4). The moment arrogance and self-confidence creep in, we spoil everything. From first to last we are dependent on our loving and gracious heavenly Father. He can be depended upon to give us only the best.
    Question
Where have you seen the kingdom of heaven come on earth?
    Prayer
Lord God, help me depend totally upon You so that in my life Your kingdom will come here on earth as it is in heaven. Amen
