  • Max Lucado Daily Devotional - More Than A Christmas Story

    Listen to Today's Devotion

The virgin birth is much, much more, than a Christmas story. It’s a story of how close Christ will come to you.

The first stop on his itinerary was a womb. Where will God go to touch the world? Look deep inside Mary for an answer. Better still, look deep within yourself. “Christ in you, the hope of glory,” Scripture says (Colossians 1:27).

Christ grew in Mary until he had to come out. Christ will grow in you until the same occurs. He will come out in your speech, in your actions, in your decisions. Every place you live will be a Bethlehem. Every day you live will be a Christmas. Deliver Christ into the world—your world!

  • Take 2 Theology - God Became Man: Why the Incarnation Changes Everything

    Episode 2.67

What does it actually mean to say that God became man?

In this episode of Take 2 Theology, the incarnation of the second person of the Trinity is explored—who became incarnate, what changed, and what did not. The discussion walks through classic Christian teaching on Christ’s full deity and full humanity, drawing from Scripture, the Chalcedonian Definition, and the Athanasian Creed.

    Key theological questions are addressed:

How can Christ be one person with two natures?

Why the incarnation must be assumption, not subtraction

Where Christ’s obedience belongs—in His humanity, not His eternal being

Why debates over eternal subordination matter for the Trinity and worship

The episode also explores whether the incarnation was merely God’s response to sin or central to His eternal plan, and why Christ’s two wills make His obedience real rather than symbolic.

If Jesus is not fully God, worship collapses. If He is not fully human, salvation fails. The incarnation stands at the center of Christian theology—and this episode explains why it still matters.

  • Be Still and Know Daily Bible Devotion - December 23rd - Luke 2:1-3
    Luke 2:1-3
At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census.
A friend of mine once commented to me that he wasn’t bothered whether the story of Jesus’ birth was historically accurate or not. He was happy to accept it as simply a beautiful story. Dr Luke, who wrote this gospel, would have profoundly disagreed. For Luke, the historical context of Jesus’ birth was of crucial importance, so he supplied us with more information than any of the other gospel writers. It was typical of the Romans to conduct censuses. They liked to have a clear account of what was going on throughout their vast empire. Joseph and Mary made the long and arduous journey from Nazareth, in the north of the country, to the ancestral home of Joseph in Bethlehem, not far from Jerusalem in the south.
The meticulous historical details are of vital importance because they make it clear that Jesus fully entered into human life. God became part of our world, with all its challenges and difficulties. Jesus arrived at a time of humiliation for the Jewish people as they lived under the oppression of Roman occupation. It was a time of struggle and threat, indeed so much so that not long after Jesus’ birth, his parents were obliged to take him to Egypt to avoid the threat of King Herod, who was insanely jealous at the thought of a rival king turning up in his kingdom.
As we celebrate Christmas this year, we do so in a world that is struggling in a vast number of ways. There have never been more displaced people in the world than there are today. There is much violence, fear, brokenness and pain. The wonder of Christmas is that we celebrate that God comes to our world, broken and sad as it is, and offers his gift of new life through Jesus. Just as God didn’t wait for the world to become peaceful and harmonious before he sent his precious son, so too he comes to us amid the present turmoil and offers his gift of peace.
    Question
In what way do the circumstances of Jesus’ birth give you encouragement this Christmas?
    Prayer
Loving Father, thank you for sending Jesus to our troubled world, and for the peace that he offers us today. Amen

  • Fresh Life Church - This Must Be The Place

One of the most shocking parts of the Christmas story isn't the virgin birth or the angels—it's who got invited first. Pastor Levi shares how Shepherds, who were outcasts, couldn't testify in court, religiously unclean, and totally unwanted, were the VIPs at Jesus' birth. This reveals something stunning about God's Kingdom: it operates completely upside-down from everything we expect. If you've ever felt unqualified, too messy, or like you're in the wrong place for God to use you—this Christmas message will show you why those are exactly the credentials Heaven celebrates!GIVE YOUR YEAR-END OFFERING:Be a part of building the Kingdom: https://freshlife.church/give/NEXT STEPS:Ask for prayer or connect with a pastor: https://freshlife.church/contactRegister your decision to follow Jesus and receive free resources: https://freshlife.church/know-godGive a financial gift to support what God is doing as we take steps forward to see the Gospel reach far and wide: https://freshlife.church/giveSUBSCRIBE:Sign up to receive encouragement straight to your inbox, and to stay up to date with announcements, events, and more: https://church.us13.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=6ea4d82b2567db3e86b7767cd&id=451f2fe63eDon’t miss a video!
