  • Back to the Bible Canada with Dr. John Neufeld - The Heart of the Gospel: God Always Gets the Glory

Can human unfaithfulness ever cancel God’s faithfulness? Looking at Romans 3:3–8, Dr. John Neufeld shows that God is as faithful to His warnings as to His promises, that His righteousness shines brightest against human sin, and that forgiveness comes by seeking His glory rather than our own. Faith brings both forgiveness and good works, so grace never makes how we live irrelevant.

The Heart of the Gospel: This 25-message series on Romans 1–4 presents us with Christianity 101. It is the basics of our faith, teaching us how we can know for certain that sins are forgiven and what it is to live by faith.

  • Max Lucado Daily Devotional - A Life of Victory

    Listen to Today's Devotion

Think about the Christian you want to be. What qualities do you want to have? More compassion? More conviction? More courage? What attitudes do you want to discontinue? Greed? Guilt? Endless negativity?

With God’s help you can close the gap between the person you are and the person you want to be. Indeed, the person God made you to be. You can live “from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). To inherit your inheritance is God’s vision for your life. Imagine the thought! You as you were intended. It’s a life that is yours for the taking.

Expect to be challenged. The enemy will not go down without a fight. But God’s promises outweigh personal problems. Victory becomes, dare we imagine, a way of life. Isn’t it time for you to change your mailing address from the wilderness to the Promised Land? Are you ready to march?

  • Take 2 Theology - The Unseen Realm 2.0 | “Spiritual” Beings: What Are Angels, Actually?

    Season 3, Episode 19

In this episode, Michael, Zach, and Clay return to a question raised by the alien discussions: what does the Bible actually mean when it describes angels and other heavenly beings as “spirits”? The conversation centers on two competing models. Are angels fundamentally immaterial beings who can manifest physically, or are they higher-dimensional beings whose physical nature extends beyond what humans can normally perceive? Working through passages from Genesis, Numbers, Kings, Matthew, Luke, Hebrews, and John, they examine angels eating, wrestling, touching people, moving objects, carrying weapons, and appearing or disappearing from human sight. The discussion also considers Jesus’ statement that “a spirit does not have flesh and bones,” Paul’s language of a “spiritual body,” the intermediate state, and the significance of Scripture using pneuma for both God and angels. The episode ultimately distinguishes what Scripture clearly reveals from possible explanations of how spiritual beings interact with the physical world.

  • Be Still and Know Daily Bible Devotion - November 3rd - Proverbs 24:16
    Proverbs 24:16
Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.
The big question is not whether we experience problems, but what we do when they happen. The writer is clear that the person who knows God has resilience. We may get knocked many times, but we are always able to bounce back because we know that God is the one who inspires and strengthens us. When the writer says we may trip seven times, he’s almost certainly using seven to represent an unlimited number of times. Nelson Mandela said: “Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”
The reason that a godly person is resilient is because their confidence is in God and not in circumstances. If we place our confidence in life working out in a particular way, we are bound to be disappointed. But if we trust ourselves to our faithful God, we can look to the future with confidence.
On many occasions, I have attended the funeral of Christian friends, and the song ‘Blessed be Your name’ has often been chosen. This beautiful song includes the words: “You give and take away / You give and take away / My heart will choose to say / Lord, blessed be your name.” It’s tough to sing these words, and they are often sung with tears, but they show that our confidence is based on our great and loving God, and not on circumstances which, in a broken and sinful world, are often desperately painful and disappointing.
    Question
How resilient are you, and how could your resilience grow?
    Prayer
Loving God, thank You that You are always worthy of my praise, whatever the circumstances. Amen
