Shiny Red Nothing

“Ship of Theseus” is a mind-bending superhero novel, coming this December from Shiny Red Nothing Press. For your listening pleasure, we proudly present the Ship of Theseus soundtrack with readings from the book, featuring music by For Algernon and Meat Curtain as well as a symphonic score by Shiny Red Nothing.

A nerdy white guy admits his privilege. The incomparable DeeDee Chaunte makes a commitment. Izzy schools us on white privilege.

Stevie Kempkers was a fan of Shiny Red Nothing, a lovely person, and a treasured friend. We were slated to play her birthday party at the end of July, so in the light of her tragic passing, Shiny Red Nothing would like to dedicate this session to the memory of our friend, Stevie.

***Lovely Mathematician***

she spoke that sweet language

killed me symmetry dead

she spoke that sweet language

killed me symmetry dead

she spoke that sweet language

killed me symmetry dead

now the vibrations from her tongue still bounce through my head

she shook her tambourine

invoked a sweet spirit

she shook her tambourine

invoked a sweet spirit

she shook her tambourine

invoked a sweet spirit

now my body’s left me writhing freely, making me sweat

I said some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

now my heart’s a beating constant of her equation

she worked out hoodoo ragtime

with femme caramel skin

she worked out hoodoo ragtime

with femme caramel skin

she worked out hoodoo ragtime

with femme caramel skin

now my two-beat pulse is racing out of syncopation

I said some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

now my heart’s a beating factor of her equation

she rode ellipse around me

friended me like a fire

she rode ellipse around me

friended me like a fire

she rode ellipse around me

friended me like a fire

now my satellite’s in orbit with copernican spin

I said some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

some cosmic theme’s come conquered me and lulled me to being

now my heart’s a beating factor of her equation

I said a lovely mathematician’s got me factored in
