Travis Peckham has arguably done more for Vermont climbing than anyone else. If you’ve ever clipped bolts in Bolton, or wrangled questionable rock high up in Smuggler’s Notch, you’ve most definitely felt his influence. Travis is a prolific route developer, guidebook author, a founding member of CRAG VT, and probably the most permanently stoked climber I’ve ever met. If it’s even reasonably nice out you can likely find him working on a project, completing a 10 by 10 challenge, or bolting a new route with his wife Nancy.

Seth Maciejowski is a Vermont lifer whose fingerprints are all over the cliffs, ice flows, and community that define climbing in the state. Seth has been exploring Vermont rock and ice for more than twenty years, often in places most people overlook: the ugly, the dirty, the loose, the lines that require imagination before they become climbable. He’s a route developer, a dedicated steward who’s served CRAG‑VT as both secretary and president, and a climber whose curiosity has taken him from Vermont’s back corners to climbing locations around the world.

I sat down for a conversation with Kristen Fiore, one of Vermont’s strongest climbers, especially in the realm of bold trad. She’s a prolific route developer and a longtime leader within CRAG‑VT. She’s also a guide, a coach, and the cofounder of Trans Climbers Belong, an advocacy group that has played a major role in shaping the national conversation around trans inclusion in climbing.
