Hello and welcome to the NGFP Local Lunch Friday podcast. Nottingham Good Food Partnership is the go to organisation for all things sustainable food in our fair City. Now normally you would be listening in to me, Shona Munro and the magnificent Penney Poyzer however Penney has totally lost her voice so for this abridged 8 minute episode you will have to make do with my dulcet tones!
At NGFP we are steered by the 6 key issues laid out by Sustainable Food Cities, which when looked at together provide a solid framework for relocalising the food system. The focus of this episode is on Key Issue 4: Catalyse a vibrant and diverse, sustainable food economy that expands local food production and shortens supply chains.
One of the ways we as citizens of Nottingham can contribute to this ambition, is to shop locally. So today is all about Nottingham's online 'click and collect' local food shopping platform, www.neighbourfood.co.uk/markets/nottingham . It's a social, low carbon way to shop where you get to meet the producers who tend, grow, harvest and bake the food you eat. You place your order online, the shop opens on Thursday evening and closes at 11.59pm the following Tuesday. You then collect your order which is ready packed for you (no plastic packaging wherever possible) between 6-7.30pm from Primary which is located at 33 Seely Road, NG7 1NU. You also have the option to have your order delivered for £4.50 if you reside within a 4 mile radios of Primary.
Next week we will be chatting to the inspirational Kimberley Bell, founder of Small Food Bakery. Kimberley is on a mission to #shortenthefoodchain. You can learn about her fascinating journey next week, so make sure to tune in at 1.30pm.
