This is the third of our three-part series featuring CEOs who have successfully exited (or recapitalized) a Shore portfolio company. In this episode, Hilarie Aitken shares her experience as the CEO of Navia, a consumer-directed benefits provider serving 9,000+ employers across all 50 states. Hilarie discusses how her father founded Navia and she stepped in to run the business after his untimely passing. She talks about her search for a private equity partner and how the partnership with Shore aligned with the unique circumstances of their family-run business. Hilarie also highlights her lessons learned as CEO of a scaling business.
In February 2021, Shore announced the sale of Navia Benefit Solutions, a third-party administrator of Flexible Spending Accounts and other tax-advantaged benefits including Commuter and Transit Benefits, Health Savings Accounts, Health Reimbursement Arrangements, and COBRA services. Shore and Navia executed a growth plan that included five strategic acquisitions and substantial organic growth.

Container Services, Inc. In October 2022, Shore Capital Partners announced the sale of EyeSouth Partners, a leading provider of comprehensive ophthalmology services across the eastern United States, to Olympus Partners. Shore formed EyeSouth in 2017 with the goal of creating a leading ophthalmology platform in the South and providing the highest level of support to its practices and clinicians. At the time of founding, Shore completed a strategic partnership with Georgia Eye Partners and its founding physician, Dr. Eugene Gabianelli, was appointed Chief Medical Officer of EyeSouth. Led by Chief Executive Officer Rex Adams, EyeSouth grew its affiliate network from 5 locations to over 155 locations throughout Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Alabama, North Carolina and Illinois. The growth was driven by organic and M&A initiatives, as well as EyeSouth’s ability to support its affiliated practices and physician partners with strategic guidance, administrative resources, operating expertise and capital with an absolute focus on clinical quality and a patient-first culture.

Courtney Sanchez is a Vice President of Clinical Operations and Population Health for Point C. Her career started as a nurse and after years in larger healthcare companies, joined Point C to build their Care Management Program from the ground up. In 18 months, she helped build the Care Management team from 3 nurses to 25. This episode features Chad Smith, the co-founder and CEO of BrightView Health, a company that operates outpatient addiction treatment clinics. Chad shares how he and his co-founders weren’t initially looking to start a big company, but rather serve the communities with the highest needs. This empathetic approach was an important part of his eventual partnership and alignment with Shore Capital. BrightView now operates over 85 clinics.
BrightView (Cincinnati, OH) is an outpatient addiction medicine practice based on clinical best practices and outcomes measures. Through the use of medical treatment in conjunction with psychological and social services, BrightView delivers the necessary support to help patients meet both their mental and physical goals.
