Shot 6 Times yet Unbroken: Luis, Retired PD

Listen Later

Luis was shot 6 times during a routine traffic stop. A day that should have been his end ultimately turned into a blessing. This story is more than just physical injuries. It’s about the mental darkness, despair, anguish, and loss of identity that comes after the incident. Physical injuries heal over time, but our mental health if left unchecked does not. This is his story on how he overcame his darkness and how he strives to spread the light to others.
We all hear stories of trauma on the front lines, but what is the healing process like after the trauma? How do you deal with the darkness, pain, emotions, broken homes, and night terrors?
In this podcast, Hayley Adams and Antonio Santana interview first responders: nurses, doctors, firefighters, EMT, police men and women, dispatchers, veterans, and military members to share not only stories of trauma on the front lines, but the coping skills they have learned to help manage their lives in a healthy way. Share this out to the world, it's our mission to create a community of first responders to help spread healing. One community, one mission. Join our community on IG and Facebook!
