Should City Councillors have to resign if they want to run for the Mayor's Chair in Toronto?
OF COURSE THEY SHOULD!
But let's play this out. There is already a long list of current City Councillors, Ontario MPPs and federal MPs who are apparently considering a run for Mayor in Toronto. Only one, (if any of them), will be successful. Are they all willing to quit their current legislative assembly jobs for a shot at succeeding John Tory?
Does that mean we're more likely to see "name" candidates from the private sector who, at most, may only have to take a "leave of absence" and have a guaranteed gig if the mayoral bid goes south?
