Quick take on youth sports development and sports specificity. Should we specify one sport? Is there value to branching out and trying multiple sports? We agree that there is value to trying multiple sports and adding movements to your skill set. Ultimately more diversity in movements allows for more physical and mental robustness. This robustness is what is needed if your kid, or you are to make it in a sport of your choosing. Specifying is necessary at some point on the career journey, just not too early or against anyone’s wishes.
