Fishing in Snow
Liu Zongyuan
From hill to hill no bird in flight;
From path to path no man in sight.
A lonely fisherman afloat
Is fishing snow in lonely boat.
The poem "Jiang Xue" was writtenduring the period when Liu Zongyuan was demoted and lived in Yongzhou(805-815). This picture is shown to readers: the world is spotless, andeverything is silent; the fisherman has an aloof personality and a simple life.
