Adults don't laugh enough. And part of the reason is that we filter ourselves too much, so we fit in. Learning to trust your instincts, let go of past mistakes, loosen up and laugh with others are the building blocks to stronger connections with others.
Nate Fleming is a comedian who specializes in improvisational techniques.
In this episode, we discuss:
🎙How improv comedy forces you to focus on the present.
🎙How your past doesn’t play as big of a role in your future as you might think.
🎙How good comedy is honest, and how honesty comes from a place of feeling.
🎙Loud Quitting & Living the Life You Choose.
🎙Creating a workplace culture of collaboration and creativity.
🎙How comedy will find you - if you allow space for it.
🎙Everyone’s faking it.
🎙Turning failures into wins.
🎙The thin line between failing and failure.
🎙The importance of being wrong.
🎙The importance of being interesting.
🎙The reasons why big comedy movies don’t exist anymore.
And so much more!
As always, we end with some questions from The Very Interesting Game Show® - stick around to hear Nate’s innovative ideas in the energy sector, monetary policy, and how to get the perfect night’s sleep and avoid wrinkles.
Bio:
Nate Fleming is a consummate performer. Not an English professor, though, so he doesn't even know if that word is used right, or even what it means. Either way, he has trained at Second City in Chicago, ComedySportz in Richmond, VA, and Chicago, iO Theater in Chicago, The Annoyance in Chicago, and a few other workshops around the places. He has a degree in film and has yet to put it to use, but man, oh man, does that make him a critic. He is an aspiring Touring Stand-Up Comedian with an extremely lackluster Hour Special streaming on Amazon. You can find him at open mics doing his best impersonation of a bombing comedian, or you can find him on all the Social Medias with the name Nate Fleming.

Have you ever encountered a ghost? Do you believe in them? This interesting conversation topic has captured the imagination and attention of people globally since the beginning of time.
Meet Mark Muncy, a best-selling author of all things scary, creepy, and eerie!
This episode is all about ghosts, aliens, murder, and intrigue. Mark takes a historical approach to his stories, giving his tales a unique angle. He travels to the locations, interviews people, cross-references related stories, and studies all the documents he can get his hands on.
Warning: Some of these legends and folklore's deep history is disturbing. Our conversation starts cute but quickly turns into tales of torture and human atrocities. So, if you prefer a lighter conversation, you may want to sit this out.
For the other inquiring minds, we cover:
🏨 Deedre's strange experience at The Stanley hotel – the inspiration behind Stephen King’s The Shining.
🪦The cemetery Mark created, which was banned by the mayor.
💩What the heck a midden is, and how Mark came to live on one.
🐢 A giant (30-foot-long) turtle roaming the ocean.
🌳An evil tree in Port St. Lucie.
🐊😡 A terrifying tourist attraction at an alligator farm.
💔 The troubling history of a home for orphans and “bad” boys.

🐻A story from Appalachia that has never been shared with the public…before now.
And so much more!

Find out how McManus became The GEICO Caveman without formal acting training - or even a professional headshot for his audition. He didn't let self-doubt or his sparse resume prevent him from going after the role. It took talent and grit to be selected from the pool of 1,000+ applicants; however, McManus teaches us that living a more fascinating life is so easy, even you can do it! It's all about your attitude and approach to daily opportunities. Interesting people take risks and try new things. So, take a chance, try something different, set a goal, and give it your best shot. Bring 100% of your authentic self and let your light shine.
He LOVES all things cinema. Brace yourself as we get a little nerdy about films. Do you think movies have become a bit boring? McManus provides us with several recommendations and discusses his solution to help people better select entertainment that is suited for their unique tastes.
We also talk about Michael Jackson, butt rubs, and farts. But not all at once.
Then stick around for a few rounds from The Very Interesting Game Show®! Where would you like to grow hair on your body, and what function would you give it besides just being hair?
