On this episode, we have a conversation about licensing in South Africa with CAPASSO's chief operations officer, Wiseman Ngubo. Known as "Wyzee" from his radio and DJ days, he takes us through music licensing in South Africa, how things work from their side of the publishing spectrum, as well as going through the mechanics of making sure that artists and musicians are paid for their work.
If you want to learn more about how it all works, here's what you need to know.
CAPASSO, which stands for The Composers, Authors and Publishers Association is a mechanical rights licensing agency based in Johannesburg, South Africa. It collects and distributes royalties to its members, made up primarily by music publishers and composers.
