  • BEFORE IRON MAIDEN: Steve shows a couple of punks an interesting piece of metal history, NWOBHM classic SHOCK TACTICS by SAMSON featuring BRUCE DICKINSON on vocals

    Send us Fan Mail

Steve shows Dave & his ex-VALLEY OF SHADOWS bandmate Clayton Goliath Pace an album from BRUCE DICKINSON's pre-IRON MAIDEN band SAMSON.

Shock Tactics is the third studio album by British heavy metal band Samson, released in 1981. It was vocalist Bruce Dickinson's final album with the band before joining Iron Maiden (who were coincidentally recording Killers, their last album with Paul Di'Anno, in the same studio at the same time as Samson) -Wikipedia

  • TEN: Dave & Andrew show metal dude Steve SPARKS | No. 1 in Heaven, a DISCO album produced by GIORGIO MORODER

    Send us Fan Mail

Dave and Andrew show metal dude Steve SPARKS | No. 1 in Heaven, a DISCO, ROCK, ELECTRONICA, SYNTH-POP album released in 1979 and produced by legendary electronic producer GIORGIO MORODER.

Nº 1 in Heaven is the eighth studio album by American rock band Sparks. Recorded with Italian disco producer Giorgio Moroder, the album marked a change of musical direction for the group and became influential on later synth-pop bands.[citation needed]

Released in March 1979 by Virgin Records (with initial copies on colored vinyl) and later licensed to Elektra Records in the US, Nº 1 in Heaven renewed interest in the band after disappointing sales of the preceding albums Big Beat (1976) and Introducing Sparks (1977). It is the band's only album on Elektra, the fourth label that the band was signed to in the US. - Wikipedia

    Send us Fan Mail

Dave brings in THE CRACKDOWN by CARBARET VOLTAIRE, and English electronic group that made really cool and experimental electronic music and were a very early pioneer in ELECTRONIC, DANCE, INDUSTRIAL, POST-PUNK, ACID HOUSE, & TECHNO.  Additionally, we discuss how it features some parallels to some of the emerging hip-hop artists coming up across the pond at the same time, that we assume is coincidental.

This album was released in 1983 and is the first album that followed CHRIS WATSON's departure from the group, which results in an album that was somewhat more conventional that their past released, but still cold, disturbing, and alienating.

Danny Joe Brown and the Danny Joe Brown Band is the only studio album by American Southern rock band The Danny Joe Brown Band, released in 1981. The track "Edge of Sundown" peaked at No. 12 on US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, on July 4, 1981.

The first line-up of the band, besides Danny Joe Brown, consisted of Bobby Ingram (guitar/slide guitar/vocals), Kenny McVay (guitar), Steve Wheeler (guitar/slide guitar/vocals), John Galvin (keyboards/vocals), Buzzy Meekins (bass/vocals) and Jimmy Glenn (drums). Ingram was an old acquaintance of Brown, having played with him in some club bands before he joined Molly Hatchet in the year 1976.

Di’Anno is the 1984 self-titled album of the band of the same name. The lead singer Paul Di'Anno had been the frontman of the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden for three years, before being dismissed for his erratic behaviour. The band bearing his name and playing very commercial heavy rock was his first and short-lived solo project

This album was actually released in Japan first with strange album title Two Swimmers & a Bag of Jockies. This was actually intended as a tribute to their friend and ex-drummer Mark Stewart, a cockney from East London. Two swimmers refers to fish, and jockies' whips is slang for chips - so literally: 2 fish and a bag of chips.

The album reached only No. 105 on the UK Albums Chart and the band disbanded at the conclusion of the short tour supporting the release.

Dave decides to go right into the arty 2 album live album set & brings in The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads by Talking Heads. This 1982 live album features a diverse showing of genres that include new wave, art punk, and funk. Each side features a different era of the band, and we believe serves as a decent introduction for new fans.
