Annie, Brady and Eric are back after a long hiatus (vacation). We're honored to have family members of Eloyeda (Lou) Cardenas and property developer Jennifer Peterson on the show this week. They discuss Lou's impact in Longmont, her legacy, and the new buildiing development, Casa Lou Cardenas, on the corner of 9th and Main.
On the Buzz portion of the show, the trio celebrates the grand opening of Landline Doughnuts, Sweet Cow, and Longmont's milestone.
As always, Brady waxes on about foods he once ate in the midwest.

The trio discusses a lack of donuts in Longmont with the temporary closing of Winchells and the wait for Landline Doughnuts. The gang discusses Sushi Box (near Hover and 17th) and the opening of Indian Bites and LoCo Burrito on Francis. Annie has a kid free day of shopping downtown at A florae and Barbedwire Books.
Finally, Annie is looking to win the decorating contest at the Thompson Park Forth of July Festival. Submit your ideas to [email protected]. Goodness knows, Brady and Eric don't have any good ideas.

Brady and Eric interview Sarah Kupec of Moose Meals while Annie fights with the updates on her computer after re-booting -- haven't we all been there? She joins the duo just in time to allow Eric to say he was incorrect about the Brewing Market's opening date in Longmont. It opened back in 1999! Guess Eric owes Annie $5 for losing that bet. Other tidbits include a choice between a bowl cut and mullet, Heil Valley Ranch re-opening, Friday night concerts and First Wednesday happy hours. Lots of technical mayhem here on today's SideDish.

Today the trio dives deep into affordable and attainable housing with guest Eric Wallace who, when he's not advocating for affordable workforce housing, is the co-founder and co-ownerof Left Hand Brewing Company.
Listen to the interview and stay for the usual banter about traffic, rants about parklets, and Pittsburgh pizza. Is that a thing?

Annie and Eric are without Brady (he's the funny one) this week so they resort to talking about lots of stuff -Rick Steves, travel, honey and gardening. Thank goodness they are joined by Ethel Lazarte Gonzales who discusses her company, Peruvian Immersion. Ethel tells us about how her father's values played an integral role in showing others her passion for Peru and its culture. This Spanish immersion program not only helps those learn the language but is a bridge to understanding, compassion, and culture sharing. Peruvian Immersion received a top prize from EforAll at a recent pitch contest.

Brady and Eric are solo this week so they resort to talking about food -- gotta love that corned beef hash from the can -- right? When they aren't discussing food, the guys discuss where the happening place is in town, events this weekend, and they sprinkle in a bit of pop culture.

Annie, Brady and Eric are joined by Jennifer Ferguson, the owner of Wonder Tours and Bricks Retail. Jennifer gives us the scoop on when she'll be re-launching food tours in Longmont. The trio also learns about Bricks Retail -- an innovative shop located in the heart of downtown featuring more than 100 Colorado-based companies. They finish the show by reading emails from listeners. Just joking. There were no emails to read. Send yours today at [email protected]

The trio is joined by Pete Adeney who gives his perspective on Longmont, downtown noise, bicycling, thrift, and excessive car washing.
More about Pete from his Wikipedia page
Adeney retired from his job as a software engineer in 2005 at age 30 by spending only a small percentage of his annual salary and consistently investing the remainder, primarily in stock market index funds. Adeney lives in Longmont, Colorado, and contends that most middle-class individuals can and should spend less money and own fewer physical possessions. He argues that by doing this, they can live with increased financial freedom and happiness, reducing their environmental footprint in the process. He has described the typical middle-class lifestyle as "an exploding volcano of wastefulness," particularly citing the overuse of and overspending on new cars as an example.
In the final moments of the show the gang discusses what's needed downtown and discuss some suggestions from listener Nicholas.
